I poured this classic Munich Helles style brew into an 18oz Guinness pub glass.
A - The beer poured in with a dense, creamy white head that settled out after half the glass was gone. The color is a light yellow, typical of the style. One thing that isn't typical of any other Helles I've had, and really doesn't bother me in the least, is some what looks like bottle conditioning trüb suspended in the glass.
S - The aroma is the typical malty, biscuity, noble hoppy aroma of the style. No surprises here.
T - Not really any surprises here, either. Initially malty sweet with some hop dryness on the finish. Maybe a little more bitter on the backside than some I've had. Still, obviously a helles.
M - Light to medium. Goes down smooth and clean.
D - Drinkability is high. This style is the German Budweiser. Not to suggest that they have anything in common, it's just the regular everyday beer for ze Deutsch.
I would definitely recommend anything from Weihenstephan that you can get your hands on! It's all good stuff and I understand that the brand is pretty hard to come by. I'm lucky enough to have a store that carries a lot of there varieties at the entrance to my neighborhood. CHEERS!
