The anticipation was killing me. Checked my mailbox every day for the last week waiting for notification of Bobsy's trade beers and especially this beer to come in. Will it live up to the hype?
Certainly has the 'hefe' look down pat. Hazy/cloudy aprocot/orange in color although a bit paler than say HP's . Head seemed fuller and more robust than any hefe I have sampled so far.
Aroma is quite on par. Certainly no over-powering smells of banana or spice although they are present. If anything perhaps a bit more malt is noticeable. The word that comes to my mind immediately is balance.
Which is what immediately comes to mind in the taste. All the classic flavors and experieince are here, just in near perfect balance. The wheat crispness, smooth malt, etc. I noticed a bit more hoppiness, but in, again, a very balanced way.
If balance is one area this beer scores higher than most then mouthfeel sets it apart. Smooth like velvet from start to finish. Carbonation is bang on.
I drink Paulaner and Hacker Pshorr by the gallon. Maybe it's a good thing this is hard to come by in my part of the planet. The aforementioned are stellar, but this is the gold standard. Thanks Rob for sending me 3 ;)

appearance- golden yellow with an extremely slight amber hue in the middle. Foamy, two finger head produced.
aroma- sweet notes of wheat, orange/banana
Taste- Very similar to nose and par for the course with the expected hefe flavors. Where this is unique is that there is a slight vanilla flavor that melds perfectly with the creamy texture of the beer.
Feel- As stated before this has a great creamy texture, while being clean and incredibly drinkable.
Overall- Great beer and certainly one of, if not, the best Hefe's I've tried so far. The vanilla creaminess aspect definitely separates this from the pack.
