500 ml. bottle poured into a Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-weisse glass.
A--Pours up a tawny yellow verging on an orange haze, with a billowy pillowy three fingers of microbubbled white foam. Head retention is unmatched and there are curtains all down the glass. Absolutely awesome looking hefe.
S--Thick banana esters, almost bready smelling somehow, with an undertone in the nose of lemon zest. Just enough of a citric tang to cut that thick banana along with the butter hints of diacetyl that linger toward the end of the sniff.
T--Banana temporarily disappears up front to blast the clove medicinals. Once that wave passes this sucker reveals a powerful tangy wheat and juicy barley kick in the middle, followed closely by more banana. Finish is mellow, smooth, and surprisingly lasting for the style. Pretty complex for the style, though without much tang on the flavor profile.
M&D--Mouthfeel's a tad too spritzy for me. I like the champagne feel, but it seeps over into bitingly. Maybe that's me. Anyway, I'd drink a hundred of these in a summer gladly.
Though I liked Ayinger's offering a bit more--for two reasons: I like saisons and it reminded me of one, and it seems more versatile for pairing with food--this may be a consummate summer beer, THE thing to drink in a biergarten!

appearance- golden yellow with an extremely slight amber hue in the middle. Foamy, two finger head produced.
aroma- sweet notes of wheat, orange/banana
Taste- Very similar to nose and par for the course with the expected hefe flavors. Where this is unique is that there is a slight vanilla flavor that melds perfectly with the creamy texture of the beer.
Feel- As stated before this has a great creamy texture, while being clean and incredibly drinkable.
Overall- Great beer and certainly one of, if not, the best Hefe's I've tried so far. The vanilla creaminess aspect definitely separates this from the pack.
