Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a weizen glass.
Appearance: Pours a cloudy golden color with a huge, frothy 4-5 finger white head. Excellent head retention. Nice lacing.
Smell: Banana, clove and yeast with a hint of lemon. What a hefeweizen should smell like.
Taste: Typical wheat up front followed by banana and clove in the middle and ending with a mix of spices, phenols and a hint of lemon. Aftertaste is dry and earthy with a very slight hoppy bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied with a high amount of carbonation. A little prickly, in a good way.
Drinkability: Excellent drinkability. This is the perfect summer beer.
Overall: Excellent beer overall. I don't think wheat beers get any better than this. I guess that's what you can expect from the world's oldest brewery.
