Poured out a rich copper-gold-orange into my Schneider Weisse glass. Huge, fluffy white head on top that faded out to foam and film. Holding it up to the light, I can still barely see the silhouette of my hand behind it. Hard to knock this beer's appearance, it's almost picture-perfect. If the head had stuck around a bit longer, I would have given it a 5.
The nose is a big, musty-floral brush stroke. Orange zest and lemons hang out after the main flower scents fade. It's rich and complex. The taste follows form -- complex citrus and floral flavors in front of the musty malt-hop background. Rich and deeply flavorful.
The mouthfeel is hefeweiss-perfect: thick without being chewy, carbonated just enough to avoid a harshness on the tongue. One of the best mouthfeels of any non-stout I've ever had. And the drinkability goes up because of it -- it's such a pleasure to drink such a tasty, almost-creamy brew. One of the best beers I've ever had.
