On tap at the House of Brews. Served in a Weihenstephan weizen glass.

Appearance - Hazy pale orange. More yellow. Nice white pillowy head. Never settlea fully. Some lacing.

Smell - Phenolic. A little bit of bubble gum. Banana and wheaty grain. Estery.

Taste - Grain right up front. Minimal sweetness, but it's there. Bubble gum phenols. Dry finish. Floral esters and banana on the finish.

Mouthfeel - Grainy, but smooth from a medium body. Drinks easily and finishes dry.

Overall - Not my style, but this drinks nicely. A great go-to beer that can be found everywhere.

What a wonderful hefeweissen! Lovely, soft citrus aromas. Pours a warm golden with a pillowy head. Tastes like fruit, and bread, and sunshine. I didn't discern any dryness or hoppiness, but the beer tastes very smooth, well-balanced, drinkable and flavorfull. Unlike some other hefeweissens, I wasn't put off by any excessive sweetness or carbonation. All-around great beer.

Poured 16 oz pint glass at Lures

A-Orange color with huge off one finger white head. Very good lacing.

S-Aroma is huge. Cloves and bananas.

T-Taste is same as aroma with more cloves and bananas.

M-Perfectly balanced. Medium creamy body!

O-Classic example of style! Perfect beer why did I wait so long to have this beer.

I had previously had this bottled, but the on tap version was spectacular. The only thing I could complain about would be the price, but for a beer of this quality to a wheat beer lover like myself, it was worth a few extra shekels. I would order this anytime and anywhere!

Served in a Becker pint.

Classic hazy golden body and a finger of puffy white cap that falls to a ring.

Yeasty scents of clove and light banana. Slightly sweet vanilla and honey. Great spicing from the wheaty base. Not overly sweet and slightly chalky.

Flavors are similar to the nose with more spice: clovey and peppery. Awesome punch of banana and wheat to go along with the spicing. Only a little of the vanilla in the finish.

Finishes more crisp than dry. Medium body with a decent creaminess.

Wonderful beer that I could drink over and over again. The sweet is cut by that wonderful spicing on the nose and palate. And that wheat base is amazing. World class, no doubt.

Pours cloudy blonde with two fingers of off-white head that quickly disappears. Banana and clove are most prominent on the nose, and after that, lemon and bready yeast. In the mouth, coriander and other spices come out, along with a big yeast characteristic, banana flavor, and bubblegum. The body is light with medium carbonation.

Poured into a weizen glass. Pours a beautiful hazy golden color with a huge, rocky, dense head that dissipates slowly into a cap and leaves decent lacing. Fresh aroma of cloves and banana bread with some clean zest in the background. Very strong clove presence on the tongue, finish brings out that medium body. Just perfect creamy mouthfeel, and goes down so smooth.

Overall: Not much needs to be said, this is a great beer. My favorite hefe to date, and I've had a few.

Awesome mouth feel; chewy, lots of wheat and and yeast. Slight citrus, with a little banana. Very very smooth and easy to drink but with big deep complex and smooth flavor. I live this beer, on tap and in the bottle. I never really had gotten in to beer until I was 28, then I tried this beer and ill I want to do is drink and did new beers to try. However, I have not found a beer as good as this one.

P-Slightly hazy golden color with a thick abundant white fluffy head with a good amount of carbonation, great retention and leaving laces. The head stays with this beer for a while.
S-Very pleasant aroma of banana and cloves and a slight nuttyness about it. Defiantly get the yeast and beautiful wheat back bone to this.
T-Bold flavor leaving you wanting another sip before you pull it from your lips. Balanced by a nice spiced citrus, banana, cloves, cinnamon and wheat. You get some hops vary faint but its there. Medium body with perfect carbonation.
O- Overall great beer I love to keep this one on tap its great in the summer but works in the fall and winter as well. My favorite Hefe!

Pour was slightly cloudy, smelled of banana and clove immediately. The mouthful was substantial. It tasted tropical, definitely banana, clove, maybe nutmeg. This beer is considered the standard for the style. It lives up to it's reputation but the mouthful and taste was just a little bit harsher than it's cousin Paulaner.

On tap at the ultra hipster joint - Haven, Orange, CA.

Whoa now, my children. Did someone purée a perfect organic banana from the Amazon Jungle and somehow get only its essence into this beer? Raul cannot explain how smooth and tasty this beverage is. I mean, J-Lo fresh off of a bidet has nothing on this thang.

Light, refreshing, incredibly smooth...

A severe Prost! to all the homies!

One of the best of my favorite kind of beer, Hefeweizen.

Absolutely delicious taste, with bananas, apricots, and cloves apparent.

Goes down as easy as anything. Just a near perfect beer.

If you haven't had it, go out and have it. If you have, just keep enjoying it.

Pours hazy yellow with a giant white head.

Smells-Bananas and cloves.

Tastes- This is the first beer I had that I actually understood why the word "banana" is used when describing beer flavors. It is sweet in a great way but also balanced out with some clove. A very delicious and drinkable beer.

MF_Very refreshing. Little bit of carbonation.

Great beer from a great brewery. Had it first a few years back and I was very pleased. Its been a frequent part of my rotation ever since.

Had this beer on tap from the local bar. I've also had it from a bottle into a Weizen Glass

A: Beer pours with a massive head if you pour it anything above slow. The beer looks like a Bavarian Hefe beer should looks, hazy, creamy, and golden colored.

S: The smell is absolutely delicious. The smell of banana and cloves are so intense you can smell it without nosing it. It's that good. There is also a breadiness to the smell.

T: Exactly what you should expect from a wheat beer. Bananas, cloves, sweet flavors all around. I got a taste of cloves as I first took a sip and it ended with the taste of bananas that comes with the type of yeast that is used to brew this beer.

M: A very light and smooth mouthfeel. There is no hint of alcohol and you can easily down several of these without even realizing it.

O: If you are looking for the best wheat beer in the world, I would strongly recommend picking a six pack of these up. It is the best example of a Bavarian Hefe Weissbier out there and you owe yourself the experience that this beer will provide. I am rating this beer as a wheat beer and therefore I'll give it a perfect 5/5 in all categories because this is what other wheat beers want to be. After almost 1,000 years of brewing it makes sense that the flavor and quality of this beer is where it is.

The beer pours out in a hazy golden yellow color.

The aroma is just spot on. Big banana, clove, some lemon, orange.

The flavor follows with a refreshing banana, clove, and a hint of orange/lemon.

The beer has a good smooth mouthfeel that cleans off the palate nicely.

This beer has a really good amount of flavor and really sets the standard for the style. Still, not mindblowing, but just really well done. A bit lighter on the mouthfeel than I possibly prefer.

A-Hazy dark yellow color, frothy head

S- Really sweet banana, clove, some lemon

T- Tastes like something from smoothie king! Bananas, clove, bubble gum. Love it.

M- It's medium-light bodied, feels really creamy and frothy. Wet, thirst quenching finish.

O- Fantastic beer. Will be enjoying this one over and over all summer long.

Poured in the Weihenstaphan spiraled tall 0.5 L glass
It pours a hazy, cloudy gold color with a puffy, fluffy white head.
Smells of dry hay, earth, citrus zest, malt and mild gin blend and mingle.
The flavor is at first sweet citrus. A taste of buttery biscuits and mixed citrus follows close behind. The tastes expand into many minor yet noticeable directions. Sweet crisp apples, spices, cut grass, minerals and a mild boozy vodka taste all add to the complexity.
This is one very gulpable hefe! The spritzy effervescence dissipates rather quickly, and for my personal tastes, it improves as it rests. It's one fluid and smooth brew.
My favorite Hefeweizen!

A - The beer arrived in a pilsner glass with two inches of creamy foam atop a gorgeous hazy blonde pillar of goodness. Retention lasted all the way to the bottom and the lacing was excellent.

S - What the? I'm a newbie here, so I did not expect the Belgian smell from a German Hefe. Smells fantastic!

T - I'm floored. The full flavor is there, but it doesn't hit like a truck, it's more subtle and long-lasting. I don't yet have the vocabulary for a proper review.

M - Bubbly pillows. This beer is medium-bodied, but with the strong carbonation it still feels lively in my mouth.

O - This is way more than I expected when I ordered it. The only reason I didn't put up 5's is my lack of experience. This beer is going to be like Heady Topper was for IPA's - it's going to set me out on the hunt for beers like this one. I wonder if I'll find one.

Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier is the 108th different beer I've had and I'll be perfectly honest: if I had to try all 107 again just to get back to this beer, I would in a heartbeat. I was reluctant to give Weihenstephaner straight 5s because I don't think a perfect beer exists, but this came damn close. Poured out of a draft, Weihenstephaner pours a beautiful pure gold, almost like a cartoon of a gold bar. It had about 2.5 fingers of bubbly white head that dissipated kinda quickly but still stuck around a good long while and provided a fair amount of lacing on the glass as I drank it. There were also a decent amount of bubbles streaming up from the bottom of the official 0.3 l Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier glass. The smell was the "low" point of the beer for me with scents of wheat and citrus fruit. Nothing was too overwhelming in particular, but it was easily one of the best smelling beers I've ever tried. The taste followed the nose, with lots of wheat, sweet tangy citrus fruit and maybe a slight hint of nuttiness from the yeast; wheat and fruit definitely stick out the most and blend perfectly for a delectable flavor. Overall: 5/5. It's a beautiful, wonderful tasting beer that puts pretty much every beer I've had to shame. After one glass of this, you can easily see why the oldest brewery in the world is still in business. Cheers!

The classic and best hefeweizen around. 20 oz pour into appropriate hefe glass at The Old Toad in Rochester, NY.

One of the best looking beers on the planet, really. Intensely cloudy, pale, gold-colored elixir. Carbonation moves up the glass beautifully.

Smells great. Wheat, esters, banana.

Tastes amazing. The benchmark for hefes. Banana, bubblegum esters, slight wheat bitterness, floral hops, slight malt flavor.

The carbonation is basically perfect. Very smooth, goes down so easy.

The perfect wheat beer. I'll be damned if I find a better one.

I don't have much to say about this beer outside of what top advocates of it have already said. If you have not had this beer, you're missing out. If you have had it, I'm sure you are like me and jump out of your seat a little every time you find it at a bar or restaurant.

I first tried this on tap when I was visiting Berlin, and I seek it out whenever I can. The Weihenstephaner is my favorite wheat beer, with notes of banana and bubblegum, and a smooth, clean finish. No need to add a slice of citrus to this beer, as its full of flavor, and requires nothing more.

At Jimmy the Greek's, South Portland, ME:

In a weizen glass:

A: a soft one finger white head appears and lasts for about a half minute before slowly dieing into the body. Typical cloudy body is seen

S: banana/esters up front with some yeastiness and graininess

T: sweet with previously mentioned flavors combined decently

M: light to medium with a decent creaminess all around.

O: ok, so I'm not much of a hefeweizen fan and rarely do reviews on this style, but I would say this is do-able for me. I'd come back to this.

Had it on-tap at Beerosophy, Bangkok, served in a Weihenstephaner weizen glass.

The showcase is somewhat nearly immaculate with a hazy yellow amber color and a thick fluffy white head. When the head retention and lacing left are exceptional, the aroma and flavor drive forth so mellow, inviting, fresh yet balance with a big touch of fruity ester, citric/lemony zest and bubblegum that nicely parade with a sweet biscuity malt and clove with a spice while wheat with a twang. The feel is smooth with a velvety body and refreshingly crispness/dryness. No doubt this beer is cult, my veneration to the old Weihenstephan again.

The Weihenstephaner Hefeweißbier was my go to weekend morning beverage when I was studying in Allach, Germany, a small Bavarian town just Northwest of Munich.

A - Cloudy, milky, and golden

S - Sweet, sugary, balanced aroma

T - Perfect for pairing with typical Bavarian foods - Weißwurst und Breze, Sweet and refreshing

M - Not too overpowering, well balanced

O - A great true Bavarian Hefeweizen, possibly the greatest

** Claims to be the oldest brewery in the world - whether it is true or not is irrelevant.
