The typical notes of banana and bubblegum but lacked the crispness and flavor that I was expecting. While this was good it was not thoroughly impressed maybe because for me it lacked the crispness I was expecting. I would purchase this again but not as my first choice. (271 characters)

Poured from a pint bottle.

A: Pours a murky golden honey color with two fingers of frothy white head. Retention is insane, lacing is prominent and incredibly beautiful.

S: Sweet malts, banana, clove, honey, white pepper, wheat, apple, a slight citrus, and some grassy earthy hops.

T: Sweet malts, sweet bread, clove. banana, honey, citrus, herbal spices, and earthy hops. This is what a Hefeweizen should taste like.

M: Light bodied, mid-to high carbonation, incredibly smooth. Truly enjoyable to drink.

O: An absolute world-class phenomenal brew. The best Hefeweizen I have had so far. I highly recommend this beer to every BA. I have definitely earned my frequent drinker miles on this German classic. (708 characters)

Pours a beautiful, hazy, sunny, peach pulp color, with a dense, stable head.

Smells of ripe banana, red apple skin, together with grassy hops and white pepper. Banana shines through beautifully, while balanced by the hops and a coppery whiff, remaining the beers enjoyable balance.

Drinks incredibly smooth, carried by soft yeast, feels utmost silk on the palate, while providing enough carbonation to create an refreshing impression.

Begins with cakey malts, clove, honey and a fantastic yeast smoothness, establishing the beers world-class mouthfeel. While the spices are prominent, they do get tamed by earth, a glimpse of oak and the grassy, slightly herbal hops. Finishes with young banana, more clove and honey, while the hops provide a pleasant, refreshing herb presence.

The interplay between noteable carbonation and euro hops turns out great, as the beer don't need no bitter hop punch to balance the sweeter spices, but uses the metallic qualities from the carbonation to create a short, refreshing burn, taming the sweeter ingredients of the brew. As easy as this drinks, as convincing is the beers receipt, showcasing a truly well made Weissbier, which leaves a refreshing, perfectly balanced impression on the palate. (1,236 characters)

500 ml bottle purchased from Whole Foods and poured into a stemmed Spiegelau Pilsner glass. Really nice beer but thought it a little thin with somewhat less flavor than I expected. Would definitely drink it again but probably prefer Allagash White at this point. (263 characters)

This beer is the perfect Bavarian beer. Just all of the classic flavors here and really this is the beer that wheat beers are based off of. Sweet clove, banana flavors. Rich wheat body. Really fantastic and worth a swill, even though it is everywhere you look (259 characters)

Poured from 330 ml bottle. Color is yeasty golden haze. Thick white head and robust carbonation. I smell malt and a pleasant banana note, and spices in the background. Medium to full bodied. Tastes fruity and refreshing, with a dry finish. Very filling. One of my favorites. (274 characters)

Bread, toast, dough, banana, woody, roasty. Excellent Heffeweissbier! Best I’ve tasted so far. Very refreshing and smooth. You know you’re drinking a quality wheat as soon as you taste it! A must have, for me. (213 characters)

This is the top of the class for the style, and for good reason. Everything about this beer is perfection. As much as I enjoy it here in the states, having it fresh from the brewery on tap at the Cologne Christmas Market was a transcendental experience. (253 characters)

Maybe the perfect wheat beer. I usually shy away from this style as I don't often like whatever gives it the seasoning flavor, but this beer is beautiful to look at, smells great and tastes like everything you could want in a refreshing, sweet summery beer. (257 characters)

Great traditional hefe.
Pours a nice golden color with abut a 3 figure white, rocky head. Leaves a nice lacing for the remainder of the drink.
Full smell, colve, wheat, and some bannana.
Wonderfully balanced taste, with the above mentioned smells coming out. Great levels of carbonation.
Second best hefe I've had, and the first one was more of a craft style. (360 characters)

Pretty carbonated for a Hefeweizen. This gives it a very lively and promising appearance when poured in the appropriate Weizen glass. The taste is just awesome. Lots of flavors (esters?) and a very smooth feeling in the mouth. A beer that lives up to its name. (260 characters)

Hazy golden yellow, with a thin dense head. Slightly sour and critrusy, grassy, light bitterness, with a lightly sweet, malty and loaded of banana finish. Medium body and fizzy carbonation. Good and well balanced. (213 characters)

If I’m going to drink a hefe (and it’s not Live Oak’s) then it might as well be this one. Get it on draught.

I guess I don’t have much more to add to this review right now. This sure ain’t poetry.

Cloudy golden color with some powerful activity. Thick foamy white sparkly 3 finger head, lasting around 15 minutes, with strong legs.

Sweet grains and citrus smell, a little faint. Flavors of fresh grains, lemon, orange with hints of clove and coriander. Well balanced with a pleasant rich sweet bread taste and a slightly sharp and crispy citrus and herbal feel.

Slick full body with perfect carbonation. Well intensified and short clean finish, ending with pleasant floral spices and fruity sugary banana and honey feel lingering on the tongue.

Overall an exquisite craft offering complex and delicious flavors, great freshness, extremely well balanced, accessible, and a true joy to drink! (696 characters)

Man, what a beer. This is one that presents something new with each sip. I definitely found on tap to be a much more pleasing experience, but I think the bottles I've had may have been a bit elderly. (199 characters)

I was a bit concerned at first because it smelled as if it might be a bit skunky, but fortunately that wasn't the case. Very light and relaxed flavor with an aftertaste that should lend itself to a cheesy dish. Very nice. (223 characters)

500 mL bottle poured into a hefeweizen glass. The aroma is a mellow, creamy banana and vanilla with a complimentary clove and some subtle undertones of peaches. The beer is a cloudy pale with a hint of gold to it, and is topped by a creamy and frothy white head that retains well and leaves a light lace. The taste is a mellow and mild medium sweet with medium low bitterness. A creamy texture and carbonation go down smooth and easy with a medium body containing notes of fresh baked bread, banana, orange, vanilla, and a light woody clove spice that finishes clean with a lightly bitter clove and citrus zip and crispness that mellows quickly and turns over to a light oranges and nila wafers combination which stick in the aftertaste with a touch of lemon, and a lactose hint. Quite delightful. (797 characters)

We love this beer and just bought another case of it. Smooth taste, fun to drink it through the foam head, light wheat taste with hints of citrus. Low alcohol content makes it a good addition to lunch or dinner meal. Not too filling and leaves a great after taste.

This is our favorite beer. Started drinking in Munich and have not stopped. (341 characters)

Nectar of the Gods. This gets bought in 6-packs. Peppery and not overly bubbly, this really goes down a treat with pork roast. These guys have been brewing for about 6 million years and it shows. World Class. (208 characters)

Pours a murky, golden-yellow color with a white foamy head. Glows a beautiful, radiant golden color when light shines through. Great retention. Little to no lacing.

Aroma contains a strong scent of lemon rind, grassiness, and yeast. Reminiscent of fresh grass clippings on a hot summer day.

Taste is refreshing. Subtle lemon notes and orange zest. A perfect amount of yeast--doesn't dominate but it very present. Hint of bubblegum. Some nice sweet, tartness on the finish.

Mouthfeel is light bodied. Extremely crisp and refreshing. Quite possibly the most drinkable beer I've ever had. I could've chugged this pint in no time.

Overall, Hefes are typically towards the bottom of my favorites list, but this one did quite a bit to change that. Definitely the best Hefe I've ever had, and one of the better beers I've ever had, period. Great beer, one that even a newbie to craft beer could appreciate, or even a craft veteran. Great for anyone, on any occasion. (967 characters)

This is more of what I'm used to in regard to a Hefeweizen (as opposed to Schlafly's Hefeweizen). I think I'm still a little more partial to the "American Wheat" style that most people seem to consider Schlafly's Hefeweizen to be, but this is still probably one of the best of the style. (288 characters)

Nice frothy head, wonderful taste. This is the kind of Beer that you have to force your self NOT to drain the entire glass upon the first taste. This is my first time trying Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier, and I am in Love. I actually said to my wife, "This is the best beer that I have ever put in my mouth!" I would recommend it to anyone who wants to taste a truly great Beer. (381 characters)

Pours a hazy straw yellow color with thick, frothy head. Head is retained pretty well. Smells of wheat, bubblegum, and a little banana. Taste follows the nose; bananas, wheat, also biscuity. The mouthfeel is lacking a bit for me. A little too carbonated for my liking and also a bit watery thin, the chewy/stickyness saves it though. Overall a great representation of the style and very delicious but I don't think it's the best one out there. (444 characters)

Truly one of the most delicious wheat beers I have ever had. This beer is a cloudy yellow-orange that looks awesome in the right light. I get banana, clove, and bread on the nose, as is typical with most beers of this style. Nicely done here but still fairly standard. The taste is where this beer really shines. There's a lot going on with Weihenstephaner, and in my opinion, it actually tastes better if you drink it just barely cool or closer to room temperature than really cold. I pick up on banana, clove, vanilla, bread, and slight bubblegum emphasized by the carbonation. The mouthfeel is great as well. Pretty creamy and smooth.

As a matter of personal preference, I might like Franziskaner a little more (perhaps b.c of its slightly creamier mouthfeel). To be fair though, I've never had Weihen on tap, and that's where Franziskaner really excels. Either way, I would say Weihenstephaner and Franziskaner are my two favorites of this style. Both fantastic beers! (975 characters)
