A: Kristallweissbier is straw in color and crystal clear, with a rocky white head capping off an onslaught of lacing.

S: Bouquet is somewhat saturnine in comparison to the kristal's cloudy kin. Some banana and clove are detected, but at levels much lower than I'm used to.

T: The flavor follows suit, with all parameters scaled back whe compared to the traditional hefe. This brew is semi-sweet, with notes of banana and clove, and maybe a touch of pineapple.

M: Body is light, with a touch of slickness that is quickly cut by the effervescent nature of this brew.

D: This is the only kristallweissbier in my store of 1100 brews, so I had to give it a try. not to discredit the style at all, but I think I will be sticking to my hefe's, as they have a much broader flavor profile, more vitamins, and a much better mouthfeel due to the yeast.

Poured from a glass into a tall 24 oz. pilser glass.

A: A lovely yellow-gold with tinges of brown, gorgeous thick head with significant milky lacing, excellent carbonation which rises from the bottom of the glass in ribbons.

S: Bitter with lots of yeast, citrus and a nice hop balance.

T: Very light but no negative flavors. Not as wheaty as expected. Lots of hops and light toasted malts form the body. Citrus, spice and banana notes covering.

M: Crisp and fresh, easy to drink.

O: Definitely an extremely nice, easy to drink beer. Not as wheaty as expected but otherwise very flavorful. A good glass to drink with a light meal.

A beautiful looking beer with an enormous head. A brilliantly clear yellow straw color beer. The head is very tall and quite dense with plenty of lacing left in it's wake.

The aromas are not as pronounced as with Hefeweissbier but i can still smell cloves and yeast. It's just more subtle.

Taste is good but as in the nose subtle. Yeast and malts are present along with phenols of clove. It's sweet and spicy and drinks very smooth. A clean finish.
A very good and easy drinking beer. One of the best.

Straw-colored with no haziness. Head formation and lacing characteristics remain as good as Weihenstephan Hefe. Streaks of foam adorn the glass. True to style, the aroma is much like a hefe but with less yeast character. More biscuity malt character is apparent, smelling a bit like a Helles lager. Clove/banana/bubblegum are still present.

Mild clove and a bit of banana. Dry with a mild bitterness throughout. Clean, dry finish. Very soft and pleasant texture. German malt profile comes through more after the filtering, but the flavor remains light and "wheaty." A little less filling than the hefe.

The differences between Weihenstephan Kristallweissbier and Hefeweissbier are fairly subtle, and I say this having had both back-to-back. Either one is a great version of the classic German wheat beer.

A: Up to the light, a brilliant pale gold color. Excellent clarity (the condensation on the outside of the glass is more hazy than the beer itself) 2 fingers head which could show some more variation in texture,

S: I can smell the banana aroma from a foot away. Cloves and pronounced nutmeg closer up.

M: Light, smooth, superfine and active carbonation give a creamy feel. Highly effervescent and an ideally crisp finish.

T: Follows the nose but with more of a bubblegum aftertaste to it. It's a little too bubblegum pronounced for my liking, but good for style. Has a good malt sweetness, and although I detect little breadiness, combines with the bubblegum flavor to make it chewy for me.

Bottle from Gator Beverage. Pours slightly hazy but nearly clear light golden yellow with a big fluffy white head. Aroma of yeasty banana esters, hay and wheat, pears and light fruits. Flavor is banana, yeast, hay, a honey sweetness that makes this sweeter than a hefe, pears. Pretty much tastes like it smells. Very light bodied with plus carbonation with a lingering sweetness on the tongue. A nice brew overall that I would never turn down.
