Pours a pale yellow, very lager looking brew with a very hef looking fluffy white head. Nose is nice clove spice with some banana and a bit of straw. Taste follows with good wheat beer flavor, banana, plenty of clove, slight slight bubblegum, and wheat yeast. A nice mouthfeel, thicker than one would expect judging by the appearance. Drinkability is quite good, very sessionable, and certainly a good choice for the summer. Sort of a hefeweizen lite, but really does pack a nice punch of flavor. My first of this style, but I like it. certainly an interesting style. If someone handed me this and said, hey, try this wheat beer, or try this german weizen, I would look at it and say, WTF? this already looks like shit, but after trying it, you will see, you will see. I think I may try to brew one of these, just to F with my friends. A good and interesting beer.

Purchased this bottle from Four Winds of P'cola, FL in a mixed brewery sampler. Poured into the weizen glass that bears the name of this fine brewery.

A: A very vibrant yellow that is exactly what you expect from this beer: Crystal friggin clear. Had to be careful on the pour because this beer wants to provide you with some serious head. Got almost 3 fingers of big time, foam head. The retention was pretty good as it receeded to a never dying top cap that leaves so nice, carbonation filled lacing streaks. Seriously active carbonation is constantly streaming up this beautiful brew.

S: Smells like a thin Hefe. Got some nice subtle scents of yeast and wheat. Clove and banana are there with a touch of citrus. A very subtle sugary sweetness is on the backend.

T: Once again, just a perfectly nice thin tasting Hefe. Banana and clove come is oh so subtle. Wheat and yeast are there very nicely to add some nice earthiness to this brew. The sweetness is also there and very subtle along with just a splash of citrus flavor. Although this is subtle, it is still great. Very damned tasty.

M: So beautifully clean and crisp. This on the light side of medium in body. Carbonation is a heavy but necessary. Makes this beer so damned crisp and refreshing. Clove and banana linger a bit to remind who is the big brother of this beer. So nice.

D: If this poured freely, I would pull from that stream each day. This brewery is amazing and it shows you why they have stood the test of time. All of their brews are great, this is no exception. Drink up, can't wait for my Vitus!

Pours a very clear golden yellow with lots of carbonation. The off white head is about 1 finger-width deep. The aroma is quite fruity and yeasty with a nice hint of clove. The spices are very nice. This tastes similar to how it smells. It is not a very exciting beer but it is very pleasant. I could drink a lot in one sitting. Quite carbonated.

Undated 12 oz bottle

A - Light hazy straw gold color that leaves a very generous head behind. Lots of carbonation is visible. Head is still around btw.

S - A strong mix of spice and yeast. There might be a backdrop of some of the wheat.

T - Starts off with a sweet spicy flavor, not much for bitterness. Guess that rolls w/ the style. Not much malt here either. Yeast is the mid flavor. Finishes with a nice clove and banana combination.

M - Lots of carbonation on the palate. Feels a bit filling as it goes down. Is very full of body.

D - I can drink this beer easily. I can't "slam" them with this carbonation, but it might be a nice easy drinker.

All and all, a good beer.

Pours a crystal clear pale yellow with lots of bubbles. B is for bubbles. Good big head that continues lacing with the beer. The head version of ring around the collar.

Has that clove and banana smell like a hefe. Like Carmen Miranda after dancing....

Very good sweet taste. Like a watered down hefe. Still very smooth and very tasty.

Sweet, poppy aftertaste like a hefeweizen pop rocks.

For $2.69 at bevmo its hard to beat.

Very clear golden color and pours out with a big fluffy white head. Aroma is fruity (banana & lemon) and yeasty. The beer tastes fruity and a little zesty with some spice and yeast. A bit watery and thin however. Not nearly as good as their regular hefe but still decent and definitely refreshing on a hot day, which it is here today.

A- brilliantly clear pale yellow with a puffy active white head that pits in its leathery skin as it recedes, and pretty much stops shrinking at about half an inch thick leaving me with the thick cap throughout the whole beer. nice. little blips of lace dot the glass and a loose stream of bubbles climb up the center.

S- typical hefe aroma, banana and clove, very pronounced, vaporous, salt water taffy, some bubblegum, green apple, and pale wheat.

T- mineral water and a very clean wheaty flavor up front like raw grain cereal with banana peels. less clove in the taste than the aroma showcasing the subtle almost fruity white bread characteristics of the wheat. yeast is still first fiddle but it backs off at the end just in time to let some more grains come through. ice cold the yeast was pretty much the only detectable taste but when the wheat wakes up from hibernation it's in-your-face. finish is clean and light with some white bread and banana candy lingering on the palate.

MF- crisp and summerish, almost light bodied, and absolutely refreshing. carbonation level is up there and tight but not stinging seeming like a great palate cleaner. the second half of this big pint bottle is gonna help me out with a plate of hot wings.

D- a very agreeable beer, very typical in smell/taste/feel but definitely above average. low abv and sheer refreshingness say all that needs to be said.

Perfectly clear visuals on the other side of the glass, filtered only through a golden-yellow color with a tight-packed white head. It's nice-looking but somewhat lacking, from the rockiness of the head to the pale, wan color, to the lack of lacing.

The nose is classic Kristal; sweet grans and lots of bananas with a touch of clove. Not super-powerful, but just right for style.

The flavor is basically a watered-down version of a standard hefe. Light-bodied, highly carbonated. Lots of sweetness, the softness and creaminess of the wheat work really nicely together.

The clove is more powerful than the banana, but both are definitely present. Tiny prick of alcohol in the otherwise grain-heavy and lightly sweet finish.

the mouthfeel is good for style, but a little aggressive with the bubbles for my taste. I don't think the carbonation is required, and might have allowed some flavors to develop if it were scaled back a hair.

I really only got this because A. I'll drink anything from The World's Oldest Brewery, and B. I've never reviewed a kristalweizen. Now I've tried all the Weihenstephaner's and reviewed a Kristal. Huzzah, and huzzah for well-crafted traditional beer.

Poured into a 0.5L Hefe glass. Clear straw color with ungodly amounts of head. Took 2 gentle pours to fit the whole bottle in the glass! Mad bubbles continuously rise to greet the cumulo-nimbus looking head on top.

Bright, sweet citrusy nose. I get bananas, lemons, oranges, fresh hay and sweet cream. Tastes similar to the nose.

This beer somehow manages to be crisp and refreshing while maintaining a medium body and substantial sweetness that is very fulfilling.

This beer is damn good. Perfect with beer brats and kraut. I would love to hang in Freising with a big ass 2L stein of this...or 2...or 3. Git 'cha some of this if you have not tried it yet.

A- Pours a crystal clear gold color. A decent foamy head with some nice layered lacing down the glass. Tons of bubbles coming up from the bottom of this one.

S- Pretty close their Hefe except a little lighter. I could pick up bananas, cloves, some bready malts and lemon.

T- Not too bad but tastes like a Hefe but the flavours are a little lighter. Follows the nose here fruity and a little spice.

M- Light body, maybe a light watery and nice carbonation.

D- Alright beer just not one of my favorites and I think I'd rather have the Hefe than this.

Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle into a weizen glass.

Appears a very crystal clear golden yellow color with a big three finger tall white head that leaves a bit of lacing down the side of the glass.

Aromas of banana, bubble gum, wheat malt, and very slight clove.

Taste is basically a much cleaner version of their Hefeweizen. Banana is the dominant ester with lots of sweet and tangy wheat flavor. Slight notes of bubble gum and some apple and green grape tartness on the finish.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp, refreshing.

This is the first Kristalweizen I've tried and I can definitely say I prefer the Hefe. This is like a "lager" version of the Hefe, in that it's flavors are very clean. Still, it's a tasty brew that's worth trying.

Poured a crystal clear golden yellow with a pure white mountainous head. Head left a swiss cheese/spider web lacing as it descended.

Coriander and mixed spices predominant upon first whiff.

Heavy banana and bubble gum in this one, not in an overpowering sense though but just enough to give it a solid back bone of the flavor.

Very smooth with a bite of carbonation.

Very refreshing and an unexpected explosion of taste from such a light beer. Weihenstephaner is bar none world class.

A - The beer pours a light clear straw, forming a large white head. Very little lacing.

S - Strong aroma of bananas and cloves, along with a light wheat and yeast presence.

T - Nice pronounced banana and clove flavor with the wheat malt in the finish. A bit grassy in the finish.

M - Smooth and light. Good carbonation and clean finish.

D - Overall, a very easy drinker. Smooth finish and great flavor. Average alcohol. This is my first Kristalweizen, and I have to say its not only delicious, but highly drinkable!

serving type - snifter (not by choice but it was very enjoyable this way)

appearance - very clear golden color with not so much head

smell - it smelled like banana, and not the candy banana flavor...like REAL banana

taste - very good, a little of the banana carried over into the taste as well, not bitter possibly a little alcohol taste but it was very enjoyable

mouthfeel - i didn't feel like i had to swallow it immediately

drinkability - i could see myself drinking this very frequently
i have been very partial to Hacker-Pshorr recently but this is definitely a new winner. German wheat beers strike again!!

Pours a crystal clear straw yellow with about two inches of near white head. Head settles down to a nice lace but doesn't leave any stick.

Smell is quite grassy with a good amount of hops, also a healthy dose of clove, some grain, yeast and banana.

Taste has a light sweetness and some grain, with some banana and wheat flavor, too. Little bit of yeast. Some clove and peppery spice take over into the finish along with some grassy hops and a little bit of bitterness.

It's quite crisp and smooth, medium bodied and very drinkable.

I don't really like hefeweizens so I much prefer this, which seems to be a lighter version of that style. Solid brew.

Picked this one up at Party Source in Syracuse.

16.9 oz. poured into a weizen glass.

Pours a crystal clear light golden hue with a three finger bright white head that takes a while to die down to a thin layer of bubbles. After swirling the glass, what lacing is there falls pretty quickly leaving just about nothing on the sides. Smell is banana, pear, and crispy wheat. Some clove and a touch of sweet bubblegum in the nose as well. Aroma seems sharper than a typical hefe. Taste begins with spice and clove followed by light banana. Clean wheat and faint pale malt midway on the tongue. Aftertaste is somewhat dry with a funky sweetness. Very crisp and refreshing light body with a soft feel. Carboantion is very steady in the mouth which seems to fit this beer and style very well. I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this beer. Unique beer for sure, one I would like to revisit again down the road.

Picked a bottle of this up during a visit to my fovorite beer store. Had no idea what to expect especially since I am not familiar with kristall weissbiers. I was able to conclude that it was German weisbeer. The appearance was fantastic, very light golden in color with plenty of carbonation. The bubbles seem to be infinite. After a couple of glass fulls I was still confused as to the unique ingredient. It wasn't until I began to read the reviews that I learned that banana seems to be the main influence here. Interesting to say the least it is an extremely unique beer. So far I can take it or leave it. Of course it is the middle of winter in Ohio so perhaps I will re-visit this one when it is at least 70 degrees outside and I can sit out on my deck and feel refreshed.

A- Very clear, almost like a very light macro lager. Nice lacing to match the head.

S- Smells like a weissbier, typical fruits that are typical of the Weihenstephan beers.

T- Taste is clean and refreshing. Again with the typical Weihenstephan tastes for their Weissbiers. Its a nice clean taste.

M- Feels great and is excellent for the mouth.

Appears a transparent light gold with a 2 finger head of white froth that doesn't want to drop. Plenty of co2 streams rise to the top of the glass. Little droplets of lacing are left around the glass.
Aromas of banana, vanilla, clove, citrus, and light apple are apparent...same as the hefe but perhaps less phenolic and in your face.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with the same statement holding true in comparison to the hefe, which I tasted side by side.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with decent carbonation tickling the palate during the swallow.

Opened the 500ml bottle and a third of it immediately gushed out of the top and onto the table before I could even grab the glass.

In the glass the beer looks lighter than even a Budweiser and is crystal clear, as it should be. The aroma is a fantastic mix of bananas and cloves and other spices. It's not over the top - I had to stick my nose in the glass to really enjoy it. Taste is all weizen: Some banana, mostly clove, phenols, some alcohol. There is a bit of yeastiness in the follow through, surprising since this is a filtered beer. Sweet and mouth-watering. I can even detect some ever-so-subtle hopiness. Some bite from the carbonation.

I really enjoyed this beer. And it brought back memories of the gallons of Weihenstephaner I drank in Deutschland last year during Oktoberfest.

Pours a light brown/yellow. Has a nice foamy head. Clear as it should be for this style.

Smells sweet and like a bavarian funk. Yummy.

Tastes clean! Of course, bubble gum and banana. What overwealms me in a good way is the yeast flavor..kinda funky but clean. Love it.

Mouthfeel is medium/light. Maybe a hint of stickyness. Carbonated.

Nice beer...would like to session this on a hot summer day.

Pours a clear golden color. Huge frothy head, somewhat fizzy. Not as much retention as expected, fading quick. Smell is nice. Cleaner version of a Hefe. The spice is toned down along with the banana. Light grain. Faint bubble gum. Taste is similarly soft. No sharpness from spices. Very clean and easy going, soft around the edges. A light banana and again bubble gum are present. Some doughy bread. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Slick going down. Again, very soft. This brew is meant to be consumed in large amounts it seems. Light, refreshing, and simply enjoyable.

True to the description of the style -- shares a lot of characteristics with the Hefe but filtered.

Clear, bright golden yellow, with the same wonderful aroma as the Hefe. The Hefeweis flavor has a tendency to overwhelm because it has so many strong flavors, while the Kristalweis doesn't have the same complexity. The edge on the tartness and spices aren't present, but it is very clean and crisp. The wheats, banana and light bitterness combine very well. While the Hefe punches, the Kristalweis slaps your taste buds.

A: Crystal clear golden yellow with a massive 4-finger head with excellent retention. Tons of carbonation. Very pretty!

S:Wheaty with a good dose of cloves and a mild banana note. There's a very pleasant bready smell as well, with just a hint of pepper.

T: Not as impressive as the nose but still good with a pleasant wheatiness to start things off with a very mild tartness that's very pleasing. There's a touch of clove and a hint of banana. Still very tasty

M: A little thin but pleasantly silky. The carbonation is great and the finish is refreshingly dry

Surprising beer. The body looks like a lager, clear and gold. The head is like a good hefe. Big with tiny bubbles. Strong hefe aroma, bananas, cloves, wheat.

Tastes like a strong hefe as well. Great flavor, lemon, banana, cloves and wheat.

Mouthfeel was a bit thin on first taste but the strong flavors took care of that as you drink more. Nice and crips.

Drinkability is excellent. A great choice for a summer drink
