Poured from a bottle into glass mug and served at approximately 50 degrees.

A: poured a beautiful brownish copper color with half inch head that lasted and left good lacing through the finish

S: a very dynamic aroma from opening the bottle to the last drop consisting of biscuits, bready and hop notes, and a touch of wood

T: fantastic, flavors that came through matched and were brought out more intensely by covering the entire palate, bready, some hops, and a smooth finish

M: medium/full mouthfeel coating the palate just enhanced the flavors even more

D: filling, could only drink one or two but what an experience those two would be

If there is a perfect beer, this is it! From first opening the bottle through the pour and right to the finish this beer is superb!

Apsolute beer perfection!!! As much as I love their Hefe, there Dunkel is even better! My all time favorite beer & probably second to only water for favorite liquid consumable!

Served in a Trooper shaker pint glass.

It has taken me far too long to getting to try this stuff. Let's do it. It pours a mostly clear tawny topped by a finger or so of sandstone foam. The nose comprises clove, orange zest, and cracked wheat. The taste brings in more of the same, with a lot more clove and a hint of chocolate powder. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a damn tasty dunkelweizen, well worthy of its lofty reputation.

Bottle: standard 500mL brown bottle, traditional German label.

Appearance: poured into a weizen glass. A mid-brown in colour with a light haze and plenty of carbonation. A wonderful inch of off-white head bursts up the glass and settles to a half-inch with fantastic lacing.

Aroma: there are the usual suspects of banana and clove, with caramels and heavy fruits.

Taste: very similar to Weihenstephan's Hefeweizen, but with the addition of the smooth caramel and heavy fruits. Very nice.

Aftertaste: all of the flavours last for a time, with the caramel malts up front. A tiny bit dry on the finish.

Mouth feel: a moderate body with higher carbonation. A nice, smooth feel.

Overall: another great example of the traditional German wheat beer from Weihenstephan - a classic. Good value too for an equivalent of AU$70 a case. One of the best wheat beers I have had - well worth it.

Poured from a 500 mL bottle.

Light brown in color big slightly off-white head.  Something was off with the aroma.  Minimal lacing on the glass.  The usual hefe traits of banana and cloves were there, but it had a faint soapy smell to it.  Luckily, it was not picked up in the flavor and did not take away from what was an enjoyable mix of fruit and spice.  Light to medium bodied and plenty of carbonation.

I had this side by side with Ayinger Ur-Weiss and preferred the Ayinger.  Comparably, they were very similar in flavor but the Ayinger had it beat in aroma and had a little more body to it.  I will come back to this beer again as I am a huge fan of Weihenstephaner's original Hefeweissbier and they are great values at < $3/bottle.
