Poured from a 500ml bottle into a weihenstephan weizen glass.

A- pours a cloudy light brown with about 2 inches of fluffy white head that takes a while to subside. nice lacing, looks pretty damn good.

S- yeast, clove, pepper, spice, banana, yeast and maltiness, rich and delicious.

T- A lot going on, tastes very similar to the smell, though the clove and spices come through a bit stronger, and some citrus coming through that i didn't get on the nose. loving it.

M- on the lighter to mid sized, much like the hefe in body, with a touch of spritzy carbonation, would like a touch less carbonation and a touch more body, but still very good.

O- very very good beer from a great brewery, love it.

Single finger head with nice lacing on a murky brown with golden hues body. Rich dark fruit and molasses aroma with honey notes. Flavor is more dark fruit with a caramel malt backbone and nice banana notes. Medium body and moderate to high carbonation. I really likete banana notes in this one which actually are orecelabt for the degree of dark fruit taste.

Again near picture perfect looking DunkelWeisse. Brown. murky as all hell, great off white head and tons O' lacing.

I've had this before, so I'm wondering if this is from a so-so batch. Very slight banana aroma, more of a roast malt with an annoying sourness.

Tastes like a good hefeweiss. but with that slight malt roast flavour. Some banana, clove spiciness. Finishes quite dry and slightly chalky. Still a hint of that annoying sourness.

Classic Weihenstep mouthfeel.

Certainly a winner. Might have to try one from a different store to compare batches.

500ml bottle poured into a Weihenstephaner weizen glass by freshness date.

A:
Hazy brown color with an orange coppery tinge, the pour generates massive creamy off-white head with very good retention. It dissipates to a frothy cap covering the surface and leaves behind with ample of stickiness lacings. Visible carbonation is rather high.

S:
Firmly based by sweet and bready malt components mingle with mellow banana ester, clove, phenolic spice and hint of bubblegum.

T:
Reinforcement by solid malt and wheat foundations, banana bread and clove take a lead. Then, there is a suggestion of bubblegum along with clove and phenol. Subtle citrus derives from yeast trait while ghost-like bitterness from hop.

M:
The body is medium with velvety and smooth mouthfeel, very soft on palate by touch of silky carbonation, dry finish.

O:
Definitely one of the best Dunkel ever existed, very easy drinkable yet another great brew from the great Weihenstephaner.

Poured from a 1 pint 0.9oz. bottle (code 5371 which means it was bottled the 37th week of 2011)

Appearance: Looks dark orange when held to the light but is in reality more of a brown tone. Cloudy with a whipped head.

Smell: Banana, cloves, hints of citrus and bread.

Taste: Spices, bit of pepper, citrus. Some bread but doesn't feel full. The malt is nice though giving hints of nuts and dry chocolate.

Mouthfeel: Lively with nice carbonation and quite smooth. The only thing is it feels watered down a bit.

Overall: It's alright but i wasn't totally impressed. Too bad because i like the kristalweizen.

Weihenstaphaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel has a super-thick, fluffy beige head and a cloudy, orange-amber appearance, with some lacing left behind, but not a lot. The aroma is mostly of sweet brown bread and water. Taste is likewise of sweetness, brown bread, and water. Both aroma and flavor have subtle spice aspects, but these are very subdued. There is an overriding watery aspect to this beer. Mouthfeel is pretty heavy (like liquid brown bread), and the finish is easy drinking and somewhat dry. Overall, this is very good, and I think one should try it at least once.
