My expectations were justifiably a bit low based on the exterior and my initial glance at the interior upon entering Center Beverage. This place just doesn't quite pass the eye test of what a craft beer store looks/feels like...thank goodness 'atmosphere' doesn't tell the whole story.
Despite its limitations in space, four racks are nearly busting at the seams with a nice range of quality single offerings. Singles include multiple items from DFH, Ballast Point, Hoppin Frog, Trappist selections, Fantome, AleSmith, Stone, etc. In my opinion, the real 'gem' about the Center Beverage selection aren't the typical heavyweights, but rather the somewhat random offerings that you don't quite find at other stores in the local area, such as Goose Island Christmas, Alchemist Celia, Port's Santa's Little Helper, etc.
The staff were able to speak to specifics of some of the breweries and their offerings, in addition to being friendly and helpful.
All in all, a nice reminder that appearances can be a bit deceiving. Certainly a nice change of pace to my normal haunts in the local area.

I have been going to Center Beverage for a long time. For the past year or so, I have seen a tremedous growth in the amount of craft beers that the carry. They received some of the KBS when it arrived last month, and have beers such as Sculpin IPA on a regular basis. You can even ask for them to order beer for you.
The parking is very convenient. Easy to pull in and out, beating the hassle of dealing with the Redstone Plaza.
Prices are reasonable, and they even have 12 Pack of Racer 5 for $19.99.

I'm happy to say that I have been going to Center Beverage for a long time. I used to go her for the regular run of the mill beer and the wine selection (always great for a suggestion on a special occasion), but now I go there for the wide craft beer selection.
As my tastes in beer changed over the years, I struggled to find a place that could:
1) have what I wanted to try or buy
2) recommend stuff that had just come in; and lastly
3) track down stuff I had read about on BA or tasted in a bar somewhere -
The selection is so much improved over a year ago and when I go in for a selection, the owner is always recommending something in addition to my purchase.
I love that they added beer tastings to the wine tastings that are there every week.
Try it out! You won't be disappointed.
