I went to Four Square this afternoon for lunch and really enjoyed the visit. There is a long wooden bar on the right side as you enter and tables to the left.
The atmosphere is casual, I really like the vintage breweriana that decorates the walls. There is stuff from old breweries like Schaefer, Knickerbocker, Narragansett and Haffenreffer.
The beer selection appears to center on seasonal beers and IPA's. You can expect about 18-20 drafts with highlights that include Allagash White, Blue Hills Anti Matter, Harpoon IPA, UFO & 100 Barrel Series, Long Trail Blackberry Wheat, Wachusett Blueberry Ale & Green Monsta and Mayflower IPA.
I'd say there is about 30 or so bottles with options like Wachusett Larry, Hazed & Infused, Harpoon Leviathan Imperial IPA (reasonably priced at $6), Victory Festbier, Southern Tier Unearthly IPA, Shipyard Old Thumper, Victory Hop Devil, Dale's Pale Ale and Troegs Hopback Amber.
The food was good, I had a couple of appetizers and some beers. They offer salads, paninis, sandwiches, burgers, entrees, pasta dishes and a few specials too. Everything I had was tasty, including the salmon chowder.
The Four Square is definitely a good addition to the area, offering solid pub food with a nod to craft beer. I plan on going back soon.

A small hidden gem nooked comfortbly in the Braintree side of Weymouth landing. 4 Square has turned the former Keno pit and whino bar into a beautiful dark wood neighborhood bar that you'd feel just as easy entering with the wife and kids as you would your drinking buddies.
The pizzas vary in quality, surprised to say the best pizza in the lot is the understated plain cheese. A simple pie with plenty of flavor, A smaller version of a Papa Ginos pizza and terrific paired with one of the dozens of beers on tap and in bottle. The other end of the spectrum is the "fisherman" pizza. YOu'd hope for scores of seafood but you'd be disappointed with thick rings of fried calamari and not much else. The go-to app here is the deliciously simple chicken terryaki boneless wings. I've been here with a dozen or so people and they eat these things like they' ve just returned from a tour of the many sub saharan villages that dine exclusively of fire grilled grub worms and dung balls for the past few months,
The selection of main courses hasn't changed much if at all from it's opening. Some gems on the menu are the steak tips and the seafood risotto, the latter is just packed with delicious seafood in a sweet tomato sauce with perfecly cooked rissoto.
4Square fits a perfect need for the area, a great local bar to stop in for a couple of drinks or a complete meal. Trivia on Wednesdays is kinda nuts, and the place seldomly seems to get popping before 5:30, so if slow and casual is more youre style go early and enjoy the place.

Went to this place with the fam after seeing many positive reviews on <ahem> Yelp. Apparently it has been open since February 2011 and is gaining a positive reputation.
Long, narrow space with the bar running all along the right side, with a mix of hi-tops and regular tables opposing. Small, seats about 70. I visited on Saturday at 6 with my family, by the time we left @ 7:15 there was a small wait for a table & the bar was full. 2 large flat screens showing sports. Comfortable atmosphere. Apparently they have bands after 9 most nights, but when I was there I didn't care for the 70's soft rock being played on the stereo.
Around 16 taps, some junk but a big focus on locals & regionals like Blue Hills, Mayflower, Harpoon 100-BBL & seasonal, 2 Long Trail taps, Cape Ann/Fisherman's. Definitely some thought was put into the selection, though could use an upgrade.
Where this place stands out is the quality of the food and the value. Tight menu of killer burgers, pizza, pasta dishes (great bolognese) and simple entrees. Obvious that scratch cooking is done here, everything we had was tasty. Prices were on the low side for the quality - coming from a reviewer that is sensitive to this issue! :0) Quality burger for $10, tasty individual pizza for $9, top quality chix alfredo pasta dish & a the afore-mentioned bolognese for $14. Saw a mac-n-cheese dish at the next table that looked great.
Friendly, prompt service here too.
I will be back here again.
