Fred Meyers is a chain of grocery/department stores, and each location seems to be somewhat different in department organization and offerings. As this is a suburban grocery store, and not really a "specialty store"--such as Trader Joe's or Whole Foods or Birra Deli, I was quite surprised, shocked actually, to see the large selection - two lengthy aisles - including craft and import beers offered at this particular location in the Beaverton Town Square. [A Fred Meyers closer to me maintains only a fraction of these items, so my review is specific to this store.] This included the American standards, but also brands such as Hebrew, Russian River, Ninkasi, New Belgium, as well as imports including a large range of Belgian sours. St Peters Organic English Ale in its oddly shaped bottle intrigued me, as well as Maredsous tripel and several other Belgian beers, as well as a variety of doppelbocks, stouts, and for example, Franziskaner Hefeweisse...
Imagine wanting to re-visit a grocery store to see what was missed the first time! Prices were a little steep, but in line with specialty retailers. Very impressed!
