Appearance: Nice clear (not cloudy) and brown. Little head.
Smell: Heavy malt aroma.
Taste: Smooth and full of malty flavor that gently fades away. I can't taste any hops at all
Mouthfeel: Lightly carbonated and light finish
Drinkability: This beer has a nice balance of flavors and is very drinkable.

Fantastic brown hue! Poured into a pilsner glass a deep, rich, dark chocolaty, brown with a single finger of froth. Head does not linger. Sweet "dry-ish" nose. Sweet, sappy flavor. The bittnerness is of yeast & molasses, i like it. Not overly sweet. Nice balance. Slightly thin body with some fizziness.

I'm really missing the chocolate, toasty, nuttiness in this interpretation. I enjoy the hop/citrus elements, but maybe I just am a little bit of a purest with this style. It just wasn't "warming" for me. It's hard to critisize this interpretation as Brown Ales can be interpreted so broadly. I am giving the taste a "4" because while above average, it is not my favorite interpretation of the brown ale.

Dark brown with an excellent pillow head. Smell is slightly floral and grassy...root beer? undertones. Taste is mainly malt with some hop notes..root beer too..very different. Mouthfeel is smooth, slightly dry at the end. Very easy on the palte..therefore very drinkable.

A) Brown in color. Pours with a 2 finger head then settles quickly to a thin creamy lacing.
S) Toffee sweetness. Some caramel mixed in. Maybe just a bit of floral hop.
T) Malty sweetness - brown sugar, some molasses. A mellow hop zing in the end. Some earthy notes.
M) Bubbly. Fairly smooth. Medium body.
D) A decent brown. I'd drink another.

From a marked 12oz bottle good until March 08

Pours a clear dark copper with ample head, fades fairly fast, no lacing.

Smell is predominately malty, hints of caramel.

Has a decent malty taste. A bit over carbonated for a brown ale though, highly detracts from the taste. Slight bitterness in the aftertaste, but can't make out any hops.

A very pleasant surprise this one was. It pours a brown the color of dark roasted coffee. Very weak head but don't let that fool you.

There is almost no lacing on the glass either so I was not sure what to expect.

The nose is decent with coffee, dark chocolate and rich malt hints. A nicely balanced nose on this one.

As for the flavor this one is complex. A bitter sweet quaff that is somewhat effervescent for such a dark beer too. Overall this is very satisfying. There are notes of dark chocolate and coffee just like the nose. The smell and flavor are very complimentary.

The underlying malt is properly balanced with the bitterness and has a really good mouth feel.

Overall an extremely good beer and I would love to have this one again.

A: Poured with a small head that quickly dropped down to a thin film. Body is completely clear and a very dark brown.

S: Aroma is very sweet and malty... not a lot of roasted notes or anything else. Just... sweet.

T: Pleasant tasting, if not exceptional. Sweet and malty, with a roasted finish that becomes a tad bitter.

M: Body is slightly cream and thin-textured, with average carbonation that seems to be a little high for the style.

D: Definitely a decent Brown Ale, it may not blow you away but it's something that I could easily have again.

Appearance: pours a dark brown color with a 1/4" tan colored head. Some spotty lace develops during the session.

Smell: caramel sweetness is dominant here.

Taste: caramel, hint of brown sugar, a bit of nuttiness and earthiness, and a mild bitterness makes up a basic brown ale. There is a bit of a buttery component to this too.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied beer. Lightly crisp to start and a bit smoother at the finish.

Overall: an easy drinking beer that is a pleasant version of the style. A middle of the road brown ale that will not overly excite but it hits the spot.

Thanks to my sister for getting the beer of the month subscription that this came in.

This pours deep red to the point that I had to make sure this wasn't the Irish red I got in the package. There is good retention on a frothy sand-colored head. On the nose there are dark wet grains and deep nuttiness. In the mouth the nuttiness combines with some chocolate malt. The body is medium light, very drinkable with a short, somewhat spritzy finish.

Overall, this beer isn't extremely interesting, but it's doing a great job of washing down a spicy lunch for me.

12 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap served into a De Molen beer stemflute in low altitude Los Angeles, California. Reviewed live. Expectations are average; it isn't a favourite style of mine. Served refrigerator cold.

A: Pours a two finger head of fair cream, good thickness, and pretty good retention. Colour is a nontransparent brown-black.

Sm: Nuts and cream. Some toasted malts as well. A light strength aroma, but a pleasant one that's appropriate for the style. No yeast or alcohol.

T: Nutty, with a cream climax followed by a thin malty finish - the worst aspect of the beer to be sure. Balanced if a bit one note. Simple but effective and enjoyable. I wouldn't call it refreshing, but it doesn't try to be (nor does it need to). No alcohol comes through. It's got depth to it, just not complexity nor subtlety.

Mf: Smooth and wet, with nice cream on the open but moreso on the finish. It's as a brown ought to be, save for the inconsistency. Not too thick nor too thin, except on the finish where it's too thin. Never too watery. Complements the flavours generally.

Dr: A very drinkable little brown that won't be making the top of anyone's list. Sessionable, especially if browns are your thing. Would I have it again? Maybe on tap if I was in the mood for a brown I hadn't had. It's a pleasant little beer that warrants a try if the price is right and you're so inclined.
