Service was excellent. The guy we spoke to was very knowledgable and talked to me about the beer tastings they have there. He also gave me a bit of a discount, which is always nice.

Selection was pretty good, too. I think Chuck's is better, but this is nothing to sneeze at when you consider you're in small town Kentucky. And it's STILL better than Nashville.

Quality?? Too many expired beers. The guy tried telling us that all these beers age well and it shouldn't matter, but I just do not really like to purchase products past their expiry date. That's just me. And one of them expired in January 2009.

Made the drive up to Bolwing Green after work to try and get a little different (Read: far better) selection than what is available in Nashville. Place is easy to find.

Very friendly staff eager to help out when I walked in, but not so pushy as to be annoying. Back wall is covered with micros and imports. I was there for the micros so I didnt spend too much time looking at the imports, but they appeared to have a nice mix. As for the micros, huge selection of Bells, Stone, Bluegrass Brewing, Great Lakes, and Flying Dog. There were also some smaller local Kentucky brews. Nice mix of alot of other stuff as well. Once again, the staff was always near by to give recommendations and point in the right direction.

Every Friday they have beer tasting from 5-7. Kentucky law wont let them do it for free, so it is $0.50 for a couple of ounces, $1 for a 1/2 pint, or $2 for a full pint. When I was there they had three North American brewed Belgians to sample.

Best part (in addition to the service) was that you could build your own six packs of whatever you wanted. It is always nice to be able to do that when you are just looking to sample some new stuff.

Update: Had a few quality issues of late. Brought home some singles of GL Dortmunder and Eliot Ness. Both were well past there best by dates and did not realize until I got home. A second time a brought home some Sierra Nevada Wheat. I have since learned how to read their bottle code and saw that these were bottle over a year ago. Still a good store, just be sure to check the dates before buying.

This was my second trip to Greenwood Sprits. Other than the standards, they carry a good supply of Dogfish and Stone, which cinches my return business. Also found several Bell's. Not a big selection of 750s, outside of Stone and Rogue.

One very nice plus is the option of buying any beer by the bottle. This opens the door to more sampling than you might normally be inclined to do. I wish more places were OK with this.

As has been mentioned, they do carry several home made dips and cheese spreads. The black olive dip is definately recommended.

Prices on some products (Stone) seemed a bit higher than usual, but others were fine.

Among the more difficult to get offerings purchsed here: Stone 060606 Vert (sold out now, sorry), Stone RIS (which has been sold out elsewhere), DFH 90 Minute. Located in front of a big ass mall. Do consider stopping by - You'll probably leave with at least a sixer or two.

As I noted in my review of Chuck's, I drove in from Birmingham to load up on any Great Lakes beer I could find. When I walked in I was very impressed with the look of the store. Unfortunately this didn't last very long as I was practically the only customer in the store and wandered back and forth for some time before anyone asked if I needed any help. When I asked about Great Lakes beer, the gentleman stated that they didn't have any due to it's cost?! He did say that they may still have some available in singles, but didn't bother to help me find them.

The singles! OK, so this is where they almost won me over. There were dozens and dozens of different singles available to mix and match. Unfortunately there were no singles of Great Lakes to be found.

I decided to leave and continue my search for Great Lakes beer but returned before heading home to take advantage of their singles selection. The store still wasn't very busy which seemed odd considering it was the friday before New Years Eve. There were more staff working by this time but still not very chatty, I guess you have to be a local here.

Overall I'd say this is a store with great potential, but it didn't live up to it the day of my visit. If the staff doesn't want to spent time helping customers, then maybe they could spend a little time dusting off the bottles. No one likes to be able to write their name in it with their finger. Thanks anyway guys, hope this was just an off day for you.

Bumping my score up a bit from a prior review. The beer selection suffered shortly after a change in ownership, but it is much improved. Offerings from Bells, Stone, Boulder, Flying Dog, Great Lakes, and others, as well as some nice German, British and Belgian standards. Still not quite as nice a selection overall as nearby Chuck's Liquors on Three Springs, but right now Greenwood seems more likely to get a seasonal or special release. Worth hitting both places.

If you stop by, be sure to get some of the spicy black olive dip made in the store. Beware the loose single bottles on the bottom shelves, though, they tend to be a bit dusty - check dates.

Greenwood is a great place to stop if you are heading toward or through Bowling Green. You can't miss it right off I-65, and it has the best selection of brews in Western Kentucky. Sure, they have brews that I could get in Lexington or Northern Kentucky, but out west this is an oasis. Plus they are currently the only place in Kentucky where you can buy Thomas Hardy's Ale (they have '96 and '97 vintages there). Other beers that can be found there are Stone, Anchor, Rogue, Sierra Nevada, North Coast, Goose Island, Young's, Fullers, and slews of other English, Belgian, and German beer. Some beers are in the cooler, and others are out warm, but kept fresh. Brad the beer manager was very helpful and had a great knowledge of the beers. I also commend this guy for his hard work in getting some of the beers. It seems he has to go through a bit with the distributor, and even then he still doesn't get what he requests. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. I'm glad I made the trip.

One trip to Greenwood and you can stock up on liquor, wine, beer, cheese, even grab one of the whole country hams hanging from the rafters....where else but the South! Greenwood boasts one of the better beer selections in the region. There are beers from virtually every section of the globe...Africa, Russia, South America...you name it. Beyond the domestic large-micro selections they also have Crooked River, Great Lakes, Goose Island, Stone, Three Floyds and Abita. Some vintage beers are also available: Thomas Hardy, Samichlaus, etc. Their beer manager is a pretty good guy who will go to bat for you if you call ahead with beer selections that are not part of their usual stock.
