Pours a hazy light straw color with a thick HUGE head with moderate lacing. Citrus fruits and light sweet malts on the nose. A lot going on for a "post colonial style ale" in the saison family. Excellent single hop style beer with Amarillo hops to the front giving a fantastic light citrus like bodied flavor and mildly sweet aftertaste, dry but not off putting. One of the best single hopped beers I have tried. An A plus and this coming from one who is far from a hop head. Cheers.

Poured a cloudy light gold body with two finger head that takes a long time to go away and leaves lace patches. Typical aroma that is light, breezy, but contains notes of yeast, some citric hops and orange, spices (pepper and clove) and a touch of sweetness from caramel and possible tropical fruits (pineapple). Smooth from the yeast, light, almost watery, real easy to drink, finishes clean. The spices citric hops are minimal and keep things in balance as I find this mostly to be light, refreshing beer with moderate sweetness from both malts (ranging from caramel to candi sugar) and tropical fruits like pineapple. Not a complex beer but hit the spot as I had it sitting outside on a hot Saturday afternoon.

Sample at Max's on 4/28/14 (from notes)

A: Lacing. Hazy, light straw colored.

S: Lightly hopped.

T: Flavorful, with a slightly sweet funk to it.

M: Smooth, with tiny bubbles. Good body overall.

O: Good, sessionable and easy to drink. I love Omnipollo, but this is not worth the $15 for a bottle.

A: Pours a milky yellow-gold with a thick, creamy white head.

S: Aromas of must, grass, lemon, lime, minerals, crackers, and subtle barnyard funk fill the nose.

T: Big Amarillo notes-fresh cut grass, white onion, garlic, sage, peppermint, beeswax, lemon, lime, pineapple, kumquat, white grapefruit, and bitter orange- are present up front, chased by delicate notes of minerals, crackers, biscuits, must, and lactic funk. The finish is lactic, sour, and citrusy with pronounced notes of pineapple, bitter orange, lemon, lime, white grapefruit, must, minerals, and lactic yeast.

M: Very slight in body with a good balance between dry and resinous textures. Carbonation is active and airy. Alcohol is very difficult to detect. For a beer of 7% abv, this is almost too easy to drink.

O: A good ale and a very unique one at that. I love the over-the-top Amarillo aromas and flavors. Very well done.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a very hazy, pale straw amber with a massive, nearly half glass white head from an easy pour; a bit overcarbonated. Aroma of mixed tropical and citrus fruit, saison style yeast, citrus hops, slight earthiness. If I poured a tropical fruit profile IPA into a saison, this is what I would expect it to smell like. Flavor is dry citrus rind and bretty saison yeast, odd faint bready and grassy flavors on the edge of the tongue, drying out a bit more as the flavors fade in the finish to a lingering citrus rind and citrus hop bitterness. Medium bodie with peppery active carbonation. The flavor is quite different than the aroma, with little of the tropical fruit hop and malt influence. Basically a citrus hopped saison, lots of interesting lemon and grapefruit juice and rind flavors with the slightly wild saison yeast as support. Not quite my style, and not really an American blonde ale (very little American malt flavors detectable here), but a refreshing citrus saison that holds interest with its variety of flavors in the citrus family, particularly some nice fresh lemon taste.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours slightly hazy bright gold color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon peel, grapefruit, pineapple, orange zest, guava, peppercorn, straw, floral, grass, herbal, light pine, light bread, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and spicy yeast ester notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon peel, grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, guava, peppercorn, pine, floral, grass, straw, herbal, light bread, and yeast earthiness. Moderate earthy yeast spice/pine bitterness on the finish with light tartness; with lingering notes of lemon peel, grapefruit, orange zest, pineapple, guava, peppercorn, pine, floral, grass, straw, herbal, light bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and spicy yeast ester flavors; with a great hop/yeast flavor balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent hoppy saision style. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops and spicy yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Pours a light yellow gold color. It's opaquely hazy. Just a solid block of color with some glow at the edges. Somewhat rocky white head. Good retention. Nice enough looking beer. The aroma is dominated by a mix of hoppy and yeasty notes with a mild bready malt background. Lots of fruit flavors bouncing around. I'm getting lemon, pineapple, grass, peppercorn, tangerine, grape, blackberry, raspberry, apricot. Lots of nice stuff, though I'm not sure what's from the hops and what's from the yeast. I have no idea if they used brett with this beer, but I'd guess yes based on the flavors. It's a very clean fruitiness. The taste is quite dry with lots of hop flavor. It has a clean yeasty presence. Lots of fruit. Mild to moderate bitterness. Pale malt way in the back. Lemon rinds, pepper, grass, pineapple pith, pretty much the dry, bitter, spicy version of what I previously described. Very easy to drink. Fairly effervescent, which seems to be a theme with Westbrook-brewed hoppy stuff. Medium light body. There's a lot of flavor. Very nice beer. Seems kinda underrated here.
