Over the past few years we have been exploring texture. It has become an obsession. Abrahadabra is a smoothie inspired IPA aimed at bringing a creamy yet dry texture. Brewed with oats, wheat, lactose sugar, berries & Citra hops.

Nice strawberries and cream pale ale -- but not the in-your-face quality of smoothie and milkshake IPAs -- more of a light essence that still lets the hops shine through. No bitter after taste. I'm a big fan of Omnipollo who take lots of bold risks -- some which work out, others which don't -- and this is a milder offering, but lovely nonetheless.

poured from bottle into tulip, unsure of date

L - pours more head than beer but settles to a perfect head after a minute, light yellow with slight haze

S - funky belgian yeast, sour, I think some fruity hops poke through but are hard to distinguish from the fruity smells funky belgian yeast can throw

T - sweet, belgian yeast, but somewhat clean (no dirty socks or barnyard nonsense), and a tangerine-like fruitiness, not very bitter

F - thin, medium plus carbonation, easy to drink

O - a little too sweet for me, but really interesting and complex, like American IPA meets Cantillon Kriek or something, more of a beer to contemplate than an everyday go-to

Unique IPA with a nice aroma that contains some funk and Belgian-like notes, along with some sweetness and fruit tones. The flavor possesses some harsh bitterness that dissipates as the beer warms up. Once warmed up, the bitterness melds more nicely into the overall presence of the brew.

Overall, this is a pretty good beer, but not as approachable as some more of the mainstream IPAs, and probably not worth the additional cost as regular "go to" beer.
