750ml, caged and synthetically corked sturdy-ass bottle. The label seems to depict some random pop-art. And who's this Leon fella?

This beer pours a mildly hazy, medium golden amber hue, with a tower of frothy, thinly foamy, and mostly puffy off-white whipped cream head, which leaves some thorough patchy webbed lace around the glass as it slowly ebbs away.

It smells of crisp biscuity pale malt, rather understated musty yeast, dry white wine, muddled, yet still sharp citrus rind, aerosolized black pepper, and herbal, leafy, and grassy hops. The taste is again quite edgy in the grapefruit, orange, and dried pineapple fruitiness up front, followed closely by that earthy Belgian ale yeast, crackery pale malt, further white wine must, faint table pepper, and deliciously pungent herbal, leafy, soapy, and softly floral hops.

The carbonation is actually quite lilting and ineffectual by the time it gets to my tongue, the body medium-light in weight, and generally smooth, the hops and/or yeast not up for any tussle here. It finishes off-dry, the malt somewhat straining under the malingering citrus and herbal hops, not to mention the yeast and well fading spice notes.

Belgian Pale Ales are usually more miss than hit for me, but I gotta say, this is pretty tasty, and relatively easy to drink. The complexity of the Champagne yeast providing those subtle vinous characteristics, along with the Yankee IPA hops, goes a long way in distancing this example from the field. Not a particular steal at the retail level, but I'm always content enough in that respect when the goods, are, ya know - good.

Clear golden with bright white fizzy ring of head. Smells of sweet honey and hint of orange oil. Feels very carbonated and foamy on the tongue. Taste is very subtle, but there is some harsh astringency on the back of the palate that gets scrubbed away by the carbonation. This beer seems to have more texture and feel than it does flavor. As it warms I get hints of chamomile tea with honey on the nose, still no distinct flavor, but I might say mildly herbal and malty (but almost completely dry).

Served from tap into a Trappe Door tulip. Poured golden yellow with two finger white head that subsided to a minimal amount very slowly. Maintained excellent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, banana, spice, fruit, and fruit hop. The flavor was of sweet malt, banana, fruit, spice, fruit hop, earth, and wheat. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. This was a fairly decent example of the style if I am honest as all of the right flavors and aromas were there and quite pronounced. I was really just hoping that there would be quite a bit more complexity going on. I had just seen a bottle of this on the shelves just before having this one on tap and was quite intrigued. I’m sure it will draw your eye as well… If it does, it is worth trying, but I would do so before buying multiples.

11.2 ounce bottle. Served in a Unibroue tulip, the beer pours a slightly hazy dark gold color with about an inch and a half off-white head that stayed around a while. There's also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells like citrusy hops (grapefruit, lemon peel), yeast and some grainy/bready malt. I think the taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but the citrusy and bitter flavors are the strongest. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth but has high but also soft carbonation. It's easy enough to drink. It's a good overall brew, I thought it was definitely worth trying. $5.59 a bottle.

Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a hazy light golden amber. Massive white head with good retention and lots of foamy lacing. Aroma of sweet malt, floral hops, light fruit, a hint of Belgian spicing. Flavor is dominated by lemon and grapefruit citrus and hops, very dry. Finish is dry and very subtle. Aftertaste is actually has more fruit and light malt flavor. Light bodied with active carbonation giving a pleasant mouth feel. A bit on the dry side with rather subdued flavors, but well made and interesting.

A: The beer is slightly hazy golden yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a two finger high frothy white head that gradually died down, leaving a pillow-shaped patch of bubbles in the center of the glass, a collar around the edge and a coating of bubbles down the sides of the glass.
S: There are light to moderate aromas of floral, grapefruit, grassy and orange hops in the nose along with some hints of Belgian yeast.
T: The overall taste is very similar to the smell and has an interesting mix of flavors from the hops and has a moderate amount of bitterness. Hints of yeast are also detectable.
M: It feels a bit shy of medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. The finish is somewhat dry and airy.
O: This is an enjoyable Belgian IPA that uses American West Coast hops.
