A: A small, less then a half finger, head made of dark mocha colored head emerged and quickly receded. Black opaque beer, alcohol legs sustain for a while as well as the spotty lacing that kicks up when swirled.
S: Moderate dark chocolate aroma with caramel and smoke. Light vanilla with sweet toffee and roasty notes coming through as it warms up. Sweet impression overall with fruity esters. Very low hop aroma with a hint of alcohol.
T: Lots of malt flavors going on – On the darker side I'm picking up milk chocolate, roasted, and dark chocolate flavors along with a hefty dose of smoke character. Caramel, vanilla, candi sugar and raisin flavors in the middle malts. Sweet impression is moderately strong with a medium bitterness that comes of some what harsh but earthy.
M: Silky smooth creaminess with a large body and low carbonation. There is an interesting mouth drying sensation I get that makes me think it was barrel aged, similar to the tannins an oak barrel imparts - Medium astringency. Medium level of alcohol warming.
O: I don't get much, if any maple flavor form the beer but it may add to a sweetness. That aside it's got some interesting smokey and chocolate flavors melding with a soft mouthfeel. I don't know if it's barrel aged but I get some flavors that make me think it is, overall nice beer.

You know that feeling you get when you just buy a beer off the shelf thinking it won't blow you away and then it hits your lips and you can't even comprehend what you're tasting. Yeah, this is a hidden gem.
A - Pitch black and thick like motor oil with one of the darkest heads I've seen since CCB Marshall Zhukov
S- There's a lot going on here. Super dark chocolate, coffee, a really sweet smell that I attribute to the maple syrup, roasted malts. Just everything you love about imperial stouts amped up to 11.
T - Really sweet, malty, chocolate, coffee and believe it or not a hop bite to it on the finish
M - A thick, fluffy feel that coats your entire mouth
O - What a hidden gem! If you're lucky enough to get distribution then grab a couple of bottles. If they ever barrel-aged this then I would probably blow my load. Seven thumbs up!
