22oz bottle split and poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a thick very black with a mahogany head. Leaves some spots of lacing on the glass. Head remains as a thin film throughout the glass.

S: Roasted malts blended with coffee and chocolate. A bit of smokiness to it. Sweet maple syrup as the bottle indicates. A touch of booze in there hints at things to come.

T: Starts off as a full bodied wholesome stout with a strong roastiness. After swallowing dark fruits, tobacco, alcohol, coffee and carmel come through.

M: Has low carbonation and a full body. I like the creamy mouthfeel that compliments the bold flavors. Some stickiness comes through from the sweetness.

Overall maple syrup makes a great compliment to the strong stout flavor. Great looking bottle made this an easy sell. Give it a shot if you're into bold and complex beers.

Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours an intimidatingly opaque black color with a 1/4 inch brown head that retains a bit before soon becoming a thick bubbly ring around the edge of the glass and a bubbly side patch of surface foam. Not-so-resilient lacing leaves a thin scraggly ring behind.

S- Strong scent of dark roast and booze with some chocolate and caramel notes. Also some slight coffee and molasses.

T- Intense dark roast comes on and displays nearly just as much sweetness as bitterness somehow. Some oak-like notes come in from the high alcohol and the roast lingers a while making this a slow sipper for sure.

M- Dry and syrupy with a burn in the back of the throat. Medium-low carbonation and the fullest of bodies.

O- This beer doesn't do a fantastic job of living up to its alcohol content but it gets the job done.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a thin dark mocha colored head that quickly died down, leaving delicate lacing covering the surface and a thin collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of roasted and smoked malts are present in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the taste has lots of flavors of dark malts along with some notes of roastiness. No maple syrup is detectable.
M: It feels full-bodied and quite rich on the palate with a low to moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a heavy beer but its thickness helps cover up the booze nd for the most part masks much of the 12.5% alcohol content.
