Good clarity in a copper colored brew, 1/2" white head. Hey, where's the hops? I'm just getting grain in the nose. Disappointing.
Some bitterness and run of the mill grapefruit hop character in the taste. Still the grain aspect is really coming through in the mouthfeel. Big beer, hides alcohol well. Can search for minimal remnants of some citrus. A little sweeter malt flaves. Has an almost English like yeast presence giving the beer more in the way of toffee than caramel promotion malt and yeast wise.

L: Initial chill haze clears to brilliant amber as it warms. Crowned with a thin, ΒΌβ cream colored foam cap that quickly dissipates to a thin film. Leaves splotchy lace at best.
S: fruit, citrus, resin on the nose
T: Malt sweetness comes across as light fruit β plum, peach, a little grape and there is a little caramel in the background. Hop forward but emphasizes hop flavors rather than bitterness. This finishes almost bone dry with lingering fruit tastes.
F: Medium carbonation but there is a nice crispness to this. Medium body to medium light.
O: Nice touch of peach and plum and some other light fruit and just the right amount of bitterness to pull it all together and make you say wow.

Not a big fan of this one.
A: (3.5) Dark orange and cloudy with a small white head that reduces to a ring of white bubbles.
S: (3) Caramel malts with hints of floral hops. Boozy.
T: (2.75) Follows the nose pretty well. Malty up front with bitter herbal notes on the back end. Slight lingering bitterness. Booze readily apparent. Bitterness builds on the palate as one sips.
M: (3) Slick with moderate carbonation. Slightly dry finish.
O: (3) One of the most mediocre beers I've ever tried. Not worth the money when there are so many excellent DIPAs on the market.

Too malty, for something called HOPtimus prime, I figured it would be much more hoppy

This is not really what I expected - in the best possible way! The smell has plenty of dried apricot and lodgepole pine. Heavy caramel profile, nice mouthfeel and carbonation, with a very balanced bitter hop finish. I thought this would be much more "hop bomb", but it really finishes in a pleasant way. The name, the packaging, and the overall concept are all "winners" in my books.
