Collaboration with Stillwater Artisanal and Union Craft Brewing
"Magic Number" has a light, quenching body and a touch of flaked oats for a light, creamy mouthfeel. By using a lager yeast we're able to keep the yeast character clean and restrained by means of a cooler fermentation temperature which lets the gentle malt character and the ridiculously juicy hop character be the only point of focus. Floral, citrus, grapefruit, passionfruit, earth, pine and melon. The hops used in "Magic Number" are Amarillo, Citra and Simcoe.

Poured on tap into a chalice. Pours semitransparent orange yellow with very little head. Smells of citrusy hops, especially grapefruit. Tastes of citrus hops with very grassy and earthy notes. Beer is light bodied and dangerously drinkable, good carbonation. Overall a very good beer from three great breweries.

On tap at brewery (DC Brau):
Pours just to the orange side of golden, and almost completely clear as I wipe the sweat off the plastic up. (Touring now... Will complete later)
Goung to keep the aside in for my entertainment later...
Watched them pour me a new beer to judge head since they are quite nice at topping a beer here today. A soapy white head that didn't seem to grow until the end of a fairly aggressive pour, half coverage. That said, what was there stick around a while. So clarity is good, head is debateable.
I learned in your the beer is dry hopped. Being at the brewery, there are enough aromas interfering, but even sticking my nose I the beer yields little. Lager and grain are light and sweet, but the hops barely come through as grapefruit and pith. This category is in need of a revisit.
I'm almost not sure they aren't lying to me. There is definitely a crispness to the front of the beer, but this just simply tastes like a DC Brau beer. The hoppy nature is given a canvas to shine, citrusy, light woody pine notes, herbal greenness. The beer has a decent feel, carbonation is a tad light, a little more body than a normal lager, but clean.
It's on the board as an IPL, but at 6%, I think the sweetness is toned down perfectly to give the bitter notes a chance to play. Not as refreshing as a standard lager, and a little heavy, but if you look at it as a pale ale (or session IPA?) equivalent, you probably won't be disappointed.

On tap at the Brewery. White head. Golden orange. Has an odd biscuity flavor but then orange peel and citrus. Almost has a steam ale feel flavor to it. Earthy and grassy. Dry feel to it.
Decent. Not crazy about it.

Golden clear. Gorgeous. Dank aroma of American hops. Clean fermentation flavor, one of the best IPL's I've ever had. Even if you subtract local bias, this is a collaborative beer not to miss.
