Penn Quarter Porter is our first in a line of draft-only limited-release beer, and it's a robust porter! In the way that The Public is on the line between a pale ale and an IPA, this is on the line between a porter and a stout - with chocolate notes and a dry, roasted finish.

Can. Deep brown with an extra thick frothy head, tan in colour and receding slowly.
Mild aroma of charred bread with hints of cocoa which is robustly maintained in the taste.
Medium carbonation an body.
Pretty good but missing the hops found in other AP's.

Day 22 of the advent calendar 2021.
An outstanding porter; one against which all other porters should be judged.
Deep brown with a slightly tan head, although it mostly disappeared after pouring.
Dark chocolate, stone fruits, and malt.
Long finish; I was sad to take the last sip.

Can as a gift, poured into pint glass. Tremendous full head. Flavor leaves something to be desired…can’t place it.

12oz can into a tall glass. Canned 1/11/21, so 5-6 months old.
Looks very good in the glass. Black body with an initially massive foamy tan head leaving gobs of lacing. This eventually shrinks to a solid covering.
Aroma is of roasted malt, with a faint coffee note.
On tasting, big smooth sweet chocolate comes in first. This is followed by a fleeting coffee hit, and the finish is long and roasty, and a little dry. Liking this.
Mouth between medium and full, finish a slow developing but long lasting roast.
Overall, pretty tasty porter, happy to have grabbed a six pack from the brewery this afternoon.

Poured from a can into a snifter glass, resulting in less than a finger of head that faded soon. Fairly dark brown color with a bit of lacing that stuck around. Smells toasty with a bit of coffee. Taste is the opposite, roast first with coffee coming later. Light to medium body with similar carbonation. Not too bad for a coffee porter, but a bit too toasty for my preference. Strange after taste after it warms, drink while cold.

Very dark brown, a bit of ruby highlights. Thin tan head, retention sucks, spotty lace.
Aroma is more coffee than chocolate, there is a whiff of earthy smoke.
Earthy smoke comes through on the palate; I dig it. Cold espresso kinda roast flavors. A bit of an herbal hop flavor as well. Digging the smoke level though- enough to be very present, but not a smoked beer.
Medium bodied, clean, appropriate carbonation.
Damn good porter.
