Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: deep, rich brown hue, which lets no light through. Head is a thick finger of creamy tan foam with OK retention and not much in the way of lace.
Smell: slightly sweet malty aroma with a good chocolate character. It's got a nice roastiness, but not a big astringency, which I like. I'm a fan!
Taste: much roastier than the aroma with a little bit of burnt malt right up front. This subsides into a more balanced, but still quite roasty, porter profile. Bitterness is a little high, with hop character a little bit vegetal. Not bad; definitely robust.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a good carbonation and a decent creaminess.
Overall: I find this beer quite drinkable indeed. I wouldn't mind if it were available here on the West coast.

A: Classic dark chocolate color with mocha tan head. Poured into snifter, 2 finger head. Poor head retention/lacing qualities.
S: Light caramel, baker's chocolate, light cherry smoke. Weaker than expected even for such a light ABV, and it takes some time for it to warm and develop.
M: Good amount of bite immediately, medium carbonation, less bodied, but balanced with flavor. Semi-dry finish.
T/O: T: cinnamon macchiato, coffee ice cream finish, roasted grains, hazelnuts, orange bitter, white chocolate accents, balanced b/t sweet and roast. It makes a very good morning/breakfast beer.

Pours a dark brown color with a light tan head. The taste is big and malty, nicely roasted and smokey. In the taste, big coffee flavor with vanilla and char rounding it out. Mild bitter, piney hop character with mild citrus, but the big roasted malts work here hinting at cocoa and vanilla. Medium to full bodied, well carbonated and smooth. Overall, this is a winner. A great porter.
