American Double / Imperial IPA |  9.20% ABV

Notes/Commercial Description:
OTWOA is a single hop beer utilizing Falconers Flight. Brewed with just enough Pale malt, Cara-60, CaraPils and Malted wheat to carry the intense hop character onto the pallet.

At first glance, it has an orange hue in the glass with a viscus, rocky head that refuses to dissipate. Upon first sniff there are dominate aromas of citrus, white grapes and grapefruit with light bread and biscut notes. After the first sip we taste a mellow bitterness that only grows as more is consumed. Moderately carbonated, deceptively smooth, refreshingly dry and extremely heady for a beer at 9.2% ABV.

OTWOA exhibits all the necessary traits to be revered as a world class Imperial IPA.

From a can.

This pours a solid dark hued malty orange.

The aroma is drying and citrusy with some orange peel, dried grass and pine underlying it.
Not sure the age if this can but the hops are mellowed out yet still tasty with a candied orange peel and piney finish. Intense.

Look: A burnt orange body. Fine, sticky, off-white, persistent head.
Smell: Aroma of faint, sweet grapefruit.
Taste: This has a hint of juniper berries, or something like that. A nice hop profile. Grapefruit and sweet bread. This is a fine mix of malt and hops, very unique.
Feel: A nice thick mouthfeel. Full.
Overall: This does not taste like many of the other DIPAs/Imp IPAs out there, it's something new. This is not a hop bomb. It is a combo, palate pleaser. The alcohol is disguised like a CIA officer. I will be looking for more of this beer in the future.

Fairly light in color for an imperial, light of the pallet, bright, fresh, saw dust, pine, green, sticky hops on the tongue. Easy to drink and concealed alcohol.

On tap at The Engine Room. Pours a semi hazy burnt orange with a half inch of head. Some lacing. The aroma is lots of citrus and tropical fruits. The taste is much of the same. Tons of tropical and citrus fruits along with some white grapes, and light bready notes. Grapefruit, orange and lemon. Somewhat dank. Boozey. Finishes with more dankness and citrus. Pretty dry mouthfeel. Lightly carbonated. Very drinkable Double IPA. I was glad when i heard DC Brau was coming to CT mainly because I wanted to try this beer. Mission accomplished. Overall, certainly one of the best Imperial IPAs I have had.
