Picked up a growler on 4/6/13 from the brewery.

Served in a DC Brau tulip because because I live here and it was easy for me to get. If you want to fight about it, send me a Beermail and we'll set up a time and place.

A: Looked like a Witbier injected with orange steroids. Very murky, bubbly, and with a huge pillowy white head that left its mark on the glass as I siphoned it.

S: Whoa.... Like a spruce tree. The Belgian yeast blended very well with the citrus and farmhouse-y funk. Truly inviting.

T: What the hell is this? It's unlike anything I've ever tried. It had the hop profile of a West Coast IPA, the earthy, dankness of a Belgian Saison, and the citrus component of freshly squeeze Florida orange juice.

M: Spritzy and bubbly, like a fine champagne and with the glass lacing of a true champ.

O: This is the 2nd best beer that DC Brau makes. Please make more!

Brewery filled growler. Hazed gold with a billowy bright-white head. Retains with a rich foaminess that soaps the sides of the glass with sticky swathes of lacing. The aroma blows up in the nose, with a robust mix of fresh floral, light pine and ripe tropical fruit flavors that include pineapple, mango, apricot and grapefruit. Sweet malt doughiness sits along the back while an earthy spiciness works in perfectly with those hop flavors. This just has a fresh hoppy power to it in the nose that kicks ass! The taste is just as good, with zesty grapefruit bitterness and a smack of tart lemon flavor. Ripe and sticky tropical fruit from the nose are all present and seem to be emboldened by the earthy and spicy esters of the Saison yeast. Neutral malts add a slightly sweet underpinning to the festivities. The finish is dry with an earthy pithiness and lingering spice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slick easy creaminess that glides effortlessly across the palate. There’s a touch of light warmth here but this is overall very smooth and drinkable for a 7% beer. Wow! I’ve had some good beers from D.C. Brau and this collaboration with Union Brewing is right up there! It’s about as perfect of a marriage between an IPA and Saison as you’re going to find and I can’t recommend it enough if you see it around on tap. Well done!

From a growler poured into a DC Brau can glass.

Appearance: Very light and very hazy straw color with a thick pillowy two finger white head. Dense 1/4" head retention lacing throughout.

Aroma: Citrusy hops with a slight tropical twist. Lemongrass, peppery spice and some farmhouse funk.

Taste: Citrusy and yeasty up front. Pineapple, grapefruit and lemon zest all come to mind before it picks up a little with some hints of Belgian funk and a spicy peppery and bready yeast finish. Very clean flavors, finish is

Mouthfeel: A little lighter than medium yet packs considerable carbonation and an aggressive hop profile and Belgian spice. In other words, it's very drinkable but has huge flavors.

Poured on tap into a nonic pint glass at Meridian Pint. Originally had samples of this on Armageddon release day and was really impressed and needed to make a mental note to revisit this one. From notes.

A cloudy but orb glowing murky yellow, with lots of green hues all throughout the glass. The brew is topped with a half finger of head that is exceptionally creamy looking and bright white.

The nose absolutely rips of fresh fleshy grapefruit hop profile. Sticky yeasty mild funk farmhouse a tad, and a good hint of sweet milky cream. Hints of pepper and spices also. It's a really nice balance, but the grapefruit really takes off.

Palate brings all the goodness hinted on the nose. This really tastes like a perfect grapefruit hop beverage. Literally fresh squeezed in the morning. Quenching juicy hop palate with a hint of wet, and mild powdery funk sense. The hop angle brings out even hints of mango, and even manages to finish crisp with some dense malts, and peppery spice.

Overall this is just a great new creation from these guys, this one really shocked me I was not expecting it to be this good, but it is.

32 oz. growler from the brewery into a goblet

Produces a low white head with the pour, the beer itself a fully hazed golden yellow in color. Lemon and grapefruit hop notes on the nose with peppery saison yeast, both fairly assertive. Crisp, clean malts. Lemongrass. Apricot. Tangerine. Light-medium in body with a lively carbonation. Crisp malt body, lots of lemon, yeasty pepper, and grapefruit on the palate. Finishes fully bitter with yeasty spice, lingering long. A nice blend of spicy saison and american hops, with lemon and yeast playing a big role.

Screw-top growler received via Growling at the Moon. Thanks for the brew, Aliza!

First stein pours with a 1 1/2" off-white head over the cloudy golden brew. Head holds on and on, with sporadic chunky lacing. Aroma is pine and spicy yeast.

Taste starts sweet and lightly tart, soft in the middle, with a moderate bitter close. Mouthfeel is very smooth, with drinkability is oh-so easy. Glad I have a growler of this one...
