This is a fine example of everything a local-chain liquor store can be when it's run properly. It's been open a few years now, and both the selection and the service have always been top notch. Unlike some of the bigger chains, the folks who work there are always happy to help, and most of them are very knowledgeable about craft beer.

Majestic has always been known for doing a great job with craft beer, and this store is a great example of that. Up until a little while ago, I would have given them a 5/5 for selection. They almost always got all the newest beers in, and if there was one they hadn't yet heard about, they'd usually try and get it in as soon as you mentioned it to them.

I've knocked half a point off their selection rating, though, because since the Centennial takeover it's been a lot harder for them to get in new product. And when they do, it's often after it's already been on shelves in other stores for weeks.

They still have a fantastic selection, it's just not quite as top of the heap as it seemed to be before.

They also do a good job about stocking a lot of great beers so that they don't just vanish off the shelves overnight. They've gotten in two separate shipments of Divine Reserve 11, for example. They had so much of Avery's The Czar they actually discounted it for a weekend recently to clear some stock! Still got some left, too.

They have 2008 Mephistopheles stout on the shelf right now, as well. Plenty of Old Guardian, Belgo Old Guardian, and some Double Bastard if you know to ask for it.

They've even got Sink the Bismark and Tactical Nuclear Penguin, if you're looking to spend some coin.

I gave them a 4.5/5 for service because the employees are all very helpful. Their knowledge of craft beer varies a little bit, though most of them really know their stuff.

Ask for Les. He's the one in charge of their beer and wine selections, and he really knows his stuff. Always happy to help out in any way he can, and if you ask, he might have something stashed away in the back that's not on the shelf, or on the blackboard hehe. if he's around he's the man for sure. If he's not there, one of his underlings, hehe, will be happy to help.

All in all a great store, one of my most frequently visited locations.
