This was poured to the top as to give full value but it didn't appear to create much foam. The color was a soft brown that had light copper outlines.

The nose was simple and light but gave off hints of chocolate malt, brownie, barley and vanilla.

The flavors were also light but I enjoyed the stronger chocolate taste. I also got glimpses of caraway, bran, brownie batter and vanilla.

The feel was very easy and drinkable though it may have been a tad thin for the style.

A good rendition of a brown ale with broad diversity and easy drinkability.

Had this on 2012-01-27 in Danville, KY at the Beer Engine (from tasting notes)

A - Cloudy medium brown with a 1/2-finger light tan head and good lacing.

S - Milk chocolate, light roasted nuts, mild spice. Fragrant and pleasant.

T - Very tasty. Moderate chocolate, and citrus. Not bitter. Touch of caramel and light spice. Roasted grain. Dries quickly but leaves a sweet, nutty chocolate taste.

M - Medium body and high carbonation. Effervescent and refreshing.

O - Easy drinkin' and good flavor. Practically sessionable. What's not to like?

Larger in body and alcohol than most brown ales, King George has a winter warmer aura about it that makes it ideal for cool spring evenings.

Pouring a deep mohogany brown hue, this brown ale has exceptional clarity while building an off white froathy head that retains the session and laces all the while.

Rich toffee aromas fill the nose while periphreal elements of roast, walnuts, and freshly bake bread crusts add complexity and intrigue for a nearly mouthwatering sensation. No fruitiness and low in spice, the beer carries a savory aroma.

Malty rich with toffee, lightly burnt caramel, lightly roasted barley, and nutty, brittle-like flavor that reminds me of Cracker Jack ball park snacks. Lightly spiced hops give a mild bark-like bitterness with a slightly minty alcohol taste late. The balance is decidedly malty, but wit a complex malt character that prevents it from becomming too one-dimensionally sweet. Clean throughout, the beer carries only the slightest of fruity esters (perhaps a mild currant or date note) and no interferrence from yeast.

Rich and malty early, the creaminess holds firm into the late palate where the alcohol and hops provide a semi-sweet finish and with a simple toffee taste that lingers into the next sip.

As the brewer suggested, this beer reminds him of New Holland's Cabin Fever and I agree. Except I prefer King George becasue of the depth of malt development with higher drinkability than a 6.0% beer should be.
