Notes/Commercial Description:
Finch's Blonde Ale is an easy drinking and approachable American craft beer. It has a moderately sweet malty aroma and is deep gold in color. We like to think of this particular one as more of a 'Dirty Blonde.' When you first pour it, a soft lacey foam clings to the glass as malty aromas fill your nose and linger to the final sip. Upon finish, this blonde turns heads with a smooth finish and a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. Enjoy this medium-bodied craft beer anytime of year.

Poured into a perfect pint.

4.0 A: Well hazed golden wheat color. One and a half finger of frothy white head. Retention is decent and a moderate sized ring of lacing is left.

3.0 S: Light neutral maltiness, plenty of bready yeast, a light sugariness. Grassy and spicy hops. A bit mild here, but not bad.

3.5 T: Taste is much more flavorful. Borderline 4.0. Hops give a nice spiciness that is probably the most potent flavor. Bready yeast, light neutral malts, a touch of hay. Simple, but pleasant.

3.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly creamy with a chewiness from the yeast.

4.0 D: Well rounded, easy to drink blonde.

A: Pours a slightly hazy gold with a creamy, fluffy white head. Head retention is very good. Lacing is moderate.

S: Aromas of bread, biscuits, honey, cream, caramel, lemon, minerals, grass, and straw are present on the nose.

T: Notes of bread, biscuit, cream, and minerals are apparent on the entry, but are pushed aside by notes of lemon rind, lime zest, grapefruit pith, grass, straw, and herbs. Bitter citrus flavors linger on the finish, but are balanced by subtle notes of cream, minerals, biscuit, and honey.

M: Very light in body, creamy, and smooth. Carbonation is crisp.

O: An interesting and underrated blonde ale. There is a lot to take in here, especially when compared with many other ales of this style. I love the turbulent, complex flavor profile.

From the can. Sampled on December 22, 2013.

The pour is cloudy yellow with a short-lived white head. The head does not last very long. I think it looks the way it should be.

The aroma has a summer sweetness including crisp clean grains, grass, and orange citrus. Hops are downplayed.

The body is light and refreshing.

The taste tends to bring out the orange citrus more than anything else but there are plenty of grainy toasted malts and a clean crisp hop finale. It really is what is is supposed to be.

Pounder can poured into a standard pint glass. The brew pours a clear light golden yellow color with a finger of white head that fades back to soapy lacing and a thin film across the top.

The aroma has a bit of perfume-like lemon to coriander character over a slight yeast spicing like black pepper. Minor hints of earth and wheaty grain are also present but they play a very minor supporting role to the lemon inclusion.

The taste has a lemony zesty bitterness almost grassy and solvent and perfune-like. A touch of herbal conponent and faint yeast almost like clove and pepper are noticed with additional sips. However, the oily lemon-like zest and bitterness is the dominating character.

This is a medium to light bodied brew with a very light amount of carbonation. It is pretty bitter for a blonde with almost astringent perfume finish. It i ok to say ive tried it but I would avoid ever having this again.
