Notes/Commercial Description:
Finch's Blonde Ale is an easy drinking and approachable American craft beer. It has a moderately sweet malty aroma and is deep gold in color. We like to think of this particular one as more of a 'Dirty Blonde.' When you first pour it, a soft lacey foam clings to the glass as malty aromas fill your nose and linger to the final sip. Upon finish, this blonde turns heads with a smooth finish and a touch of bitterness in the aftertaste. Enjoy this medium-bodied craft beer anytime of year.

look: 3.75 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.25

A: Pours a lightly hazy golden yellow color with a fingers worth of head that fades to a thin cap that leaves some nice lacing

S: Quite malty, with a very light sweetness. Some almost unnoticeable hops come through, providing a slight hint of earthiness

T: Again, pretty much all malt until the VERY end. Starts off with a light sweetness and goes into some vegetal notes (almost like creamed corn, although this is not nearly as bad as creamed corn sounds in a beer). Hoppiness lends a light bitterness in the finish

M: Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A fairly average blonde, lacking any decent hop presence. The maltiness is nice, but it's a little unbalanced. Decent, but at nearly $10 for a 4-pack I wouldn't consider it again

Pours a clean pale yellow color with an off white head. In the aroma, floral and a light lemon citrus presence. In the taste, a lighter lemon citrus and a dry floral presence. A lighter bitterness with a medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, and a semi dry lemon citrus in the aftertaste. Decent, clean, and refreshing.

look: 3.25 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.25 | feel: 3.25 | overall: 3.25

Appearance 3.25: Attractive color. Kind of a dark golden yellow. Head was decent, around a 1/5".

Smell 3.5:Pleasant bouquet. Nice blend of malt and hops.

Taste 3.25: Front is where the alkaline hops seep in. Middle is clean and cool and neutral. Finish features more malty caramel flavors and more subdued and pleasant hoppiness. Aftertaste is relatively long and slightly burning to the sides of the mouth.

Mouthfeel: 3.25: Carbonation level is standard for this style of beer.

Overall 3.25: Good, solid brew. Nothing special, but who says it has to be? I particularly enjoyed the balance between the hops and the malt. Definitely worth a try if you can find it.

Pours a beautiful golden blonde with a huge, frothy white head. True to the description.

Sweet with a touch of pine hops in the nose. Grainy texture as well. I don't see anything that shouldn't be.

Chewy, sweet, buttery malt with just that kiss of pine I mentioned. It's reminiscent of a basic pale ale.

Lingering bitterness and graininess of the malt at the back. Not as pleasant as I had hoped but it does give it a bit more flavor.

Not bad. I probably wouldn't buy it again and I think they would have better off making a kolsch if they were looking for something sessionable.

LOOK: Pours a hazed golden color, with a bone white tightly beaded head that leaves good lacing behind.

SMELL: Bready malts and crackery yeast. Some lemon and floral hop notes. Pinch of wheat.

TASTE: Mild tea like hops, creamed malt, wheat. Perfumeish hops translate to a flavor of edible flowers. Biscuit, bread, mild tangy green apple fruitiness in the finish. So lemony and tea like its vaguely reminiscent of a bitter shandy. Pretty mellow and easy drinking.

FEEL: Thin feel, carbonation is low but has a small zing to it. Quite watery and loose in the finish, which is disappointing.

OVERALL: There are some things to like about this beer, it looks good and tastes good, but it really lacks depth and body.

A: Nice short white colored head poured from a can in to a pint glass. Excellent lacing. A bit cloudy with a nice golden color.

S: Nice aroma with some hops and sweetness

T: The hops are not too strong and are even throughout.

M: A good amount of carbonation but maybe not quite enough

O: This beer is pretty good with an even hops profile throughout the swallow. I look forward to trying other varieties from Finch's.

Snagged a single pounder from the house of 1,000 beers for $1.75

A - Boy this is one dirty blonde! Hazy and bright yellow with a 1/4 inch of head that settles to a lace ring of almost nothing.
S - Some piney hops, touch of mild grains, some wheat, and a bit of lemon peel.
T - Pretty tasty summer brew. They didn't scrimp on the hops which is nice. Grains are mild and balanced with some wheat base and a touch of lemon peel in the finish.
M - Light and crisp yet more body than I expected. Decent.

Overall even a simple blonde these guys craft well. I have not found a single Finch beer I have been disappointed with. Worth a try.

160z can into a pint glass.

Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with a half finger white head. Head quickly fades to just a thin lace leaving decent lacing on the sides of the glass as the beer is drunk.

Aroma is quite yeasty with Some toasted malt and lemony notes. A little bit of grass as well.

The flavor expands on the characteristics found in the aroma with more toasted malt along with grass and hay. There are some lemon and peach notes along with a little bit of butterscotch. Bitterness is moderate with a fairly dry mouthfeel throughout. Nice crisp finish.

Overall, there is not a lot to this beer but that is typical for the style. This is a great summer brew and a perfect thirst quencher on a hot day. More flavor than bmc and overall, a pleasure to drink.
