$3 16oz "tall boy" can poured into a Samuel Adams "Perfect Pint" glass.

Appearance: Pitch black... car oil kind of black. There's a tiny head, but it goes away almost instantly, with just a thin, brown layer of foam on top. Lacing, at least initially, is sexy.

Smell: Super dark, roasted malts is the most notable thing here. However, there's plenty of chocolate-like notes as well, with some vanilla. The vanilla definitely comes out more in the aroma than it does in the flavor, which MAY be a good thing. (The vanilla is the main thing that drew me to this beer).

Taste/feel: What a stout. Forget the fact that it comes from a can. What. A. Stout. Balanced very, very well. It's never too sweet, or too bitter. Front of the sip is a bit of dark fruits (?) for sweetness, but then there's pretty much nothing but malty, chocolate goodness until the end. As the beer warms up, the beer seems to get a tad bit more bitter, and the vanilla comes out a LITTLE more, but I notice a lot of people complaining about the vanilla in it. To be honest, I don't really get much at all (at least when it's cold)... and that disappoints me. It's there in a subtle way, but I actually wanted a little bit more. Regardless of that, this is still a slick-in-the-mouth, quality stout: an absolute delight.

Pours black as an oil slick with a creamy deep beige head atop.Aromas of bitter chocolate, vanilla, dark fruit, and mild char,it's pretty sweet.Flavors start out with a big hefty sweetness but a nice drying earthiness keeps it in check, alot of vanilla and dark fruit flavors to go along with bitter chocolate at the onset. One of the better milk stouts I have had in awhile,it's sweet but it's also got a big earthy/roasted finish.

Saw this about a year ago and picked up the last four pack at my local beverage store. I really liked it. I was hoping to get some more later on but the store said it didn't sell that well and they didn't plan on ordering anymore. Bummer. Well today was a good day as it just happened to show up again on the shelf! Apparently the distributor made a deal the store could not refuse. For such a low alcohol content this beer is a really really big beer. I disagree that with another reviewer who thought it was 'thin'. It truly is motor oil. I'm thinking this stuff is darker than any of the imperial stouts I've tried (and I've tried more than a few). It's characteristics are pretty simple -- chocolate and vanilla -- and I'm OK with that. Tastes yummy. Not allot of crazy things going on like a high alcohol imperial stout but no mini-hangover the next day either from having two of these. Nothing else like this out there (as far as I know). A truly unique beer but more of a niche taste not for everyone.

Nose: chocolate, caramel, vanilla.
Pours dark deep brown under a robust finely bubbled 2” tan head.
Palate: creamy very light espresso bitterness forms a foundation supporting an overall structure of chocolate and vanilla seasoned with caramel with traces of grainy malt in the finish.
The Brewer manages to achieve Guinness level nitro carbonation and creaminess that provides a perfect vehicle for the rich palate.

Appears a pitch black hue with a tan colored head, creamy fine lacing. Aroma hints of anise, vanilla, toasted oak with dark malts roasted coffee/dark chocolate notes. Flavor has creamy dark chocolate notes with herbal hops, creamy iced coffee with candy like sugar qualities not overly sweet balanced by dark roasts nearly burnt. Mouthfeel medium bodied slightly creamy textures nice easy going carbonation. Overall it has easy drinking qualities with a solid stout base and vanilla additions light years better than their flagship IPA.
