Poured into a standard pint glass: color is amber, a little opaque, fine bubbled frothy head; head dissipates to a ring and light top with some lacing on the glass.

Smell is a nice malt and hop mixture: malt profile is touch of toast, caramel and some light earthy notes from the rye. Hops are piney and earthy.

Taste is also malt and hop mixture: malt is more caramely in the taste with subtle rye and toast notes, some biscuit presents itself as it warms; hops are earthy, bitter, almost biting. Flavors seem to blend to a cloying flavor at the end which takes away from it in some way.

Mouthfeel is a bit cloying, as the flavors blend together and bite the tongue on the finish; strong tongue presence and lighter on the cheek, but pleasant carbonation levels.

Overall, a very solid malt profile with a hop presence that is leans towards biting and cloying, strong on the tongue.

Poured from a tallboy can into a standard pint glass. Moderate hand. No clear identifiable date on the can, but there is a presumably fascist pig depicted.

A: Cloudy, iced tea-colored body with scant head. Poor retention. Small amount of visible sediment clumps. Minimal lacing.

S: Sweet, slightly spicy malt with hints of apple, brown sugar. Hops are present with touches of indistinct citrus and lighter pine elements. Dough.

T: Bittersweet opening with hops and malt battling for dominance. Rye makes a transient appearance midway. Finished semi-dry with some linger hop bitterness in the aftertaste. A faintly aspirin-like quality hits the back of the throat. Alcohol is relatively well hidden for 8% ABV.

M: Low carbonation with a medium body. Would likely benefit from a bit more effervescence.

O: Middle-of-the-road DIPA/hopped-up amber that struck me as a bit under-carbonated. Kudos for the tallboy can format, though.

Prost!

appearance: Amber (creative huh?). Somewhat hazy. Smattering of messy off white head. Fits the bill for an amber.
smell: Pleasant nose with a nice balance of malt and a little biting hops. Nice sweet edge.
taste: Hops are more prominent here. Still a good bit of sweetness but the hops are right there and the finish has a little bitterness.
overall: Fine example of an amber, w/o either sweetness or maltiness or hoppy bitterness dominating.
