Pours a deep hazed kind of straw color with a thinner quick to fade white head.Very fruity in the nose with light herbal notes to compliment, some biscuit/caramel as well.Somewhat flat in the mought but it's not to light like many English IPA's.Tropical fruits on the palate but not in your face, slight herbal notes as well, sweet caramel/biscuit malt is there to the finish. To me it's English in style even with the use of more bold NZ hops, just not as bold as an American IPA.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2012. Picked up the other day from Trembling Madness, my local beer nirvana. The label mentions that European and NZ hops are used in this brew, and that it is named after the village of Wildboarclough. Bottle conditioned.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A very hazy amber hue with medium carbonation and quite a bit of sediment. Yields a small head of frothy white foam that collapses rapidly to a surface layer. The aroma: citrus! Intense notes of orange, grapefruit and lemon, with a hint of white grape. Mild undertones of yeast and caramel malt. It smells delicious.

Tastes of fruity aromatic hops with a dry, bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, bitter orange, lemon, citrus peel, white grapes, earthy yeast and subtle malt. A restrained bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and dry, with a mild acidity and considerable astringency. Aftertaste of intense aromatic citrus - oh yeah!

Wow - what a beer! Tons of aromatic citrus notes and delectable fruity flavours. I don't think IPAs get much better than this. Tasty stuff; now I'm going to have to try some of Buxton's other offerings. Highly recommended - grab one if you can.

Pours straw with a fading head.
Nose shows light fruit, herbal earthy hops, spicy notes alongside a little clean malt, wheat and honey.
Incredibly similar flavours. More herbal, earthy and spicy hops and a little wheat.
Nice moderately high carbonation.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a hazy golden amber with a half finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel and bready malt, citrus and lightly piney hops, orange and grapefruit citrus. Flavor is light tropical fruit, resinous piney hops, lemon and grapefruit citrus, bready malt. Finish is suprisingly dry; lingering resinous grassy hops. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Style is closer to an English IPA than the American listed here, but it is much more agressively hopped, like an North American IPA. Initial flavor is English bitter malts and hops, but with a much more intense hop bitterness and dryness in the finish. Interesting and more intense than most English IPAs I've tried. I'd like to see more from this brewery.

Nice IPA. Pours to a great looking beer and there are plenty of hoppy tropical flavours and smells. Good balance of alcohol and acidity but finishes a little too bitter for me

Appearance is a Coopers-y red-golden. Good head/lacing.

Smell is grapey hop, starfruit. Epic Armageddon-style. Behind that is subtle slightly leathery toffee which gets sweeter as the beer warms, which also elicits more hop aroma.

Taste and mouthfeel is a continuance of the nose, but quite watery. Nice hop notes, but not much body or hop bitterness comes through at first. As the beer warms the bitterness increases and a leafiness comes in.

Nice IPA. Ticks all the boxes, is complex and hoppy. Perhaps like a better version of Racer 5 if I had to compare it to something.
