Unknown vintage; drank 12/18/15 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque dark brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a big dark tan head; a frothy curtain of lace.
Sweet milk chocolate, root beer, fresh earth & faint vanilla notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Cream & root beer flavors up front; faint fresh earth notes on the mildly carbonated finish.
The nose was intriguing but the beer didn't quite live up to its promise. Worth a quaff.

12oz bottle, undated, poured into a Willie becher shows an opaque and murky brown body floating a proud 1" tan colored head of mixed bubbles that reduces to a persistent 1/4" cap leaving waves of artistic lacing.
Aromas of roasted barley, cocoa, milk chocolate, and a fruity hop note.
Flavors are bright. Many porter's, stouts, can seem muddy with an emphasis on just the malt. Not this one. Really nice hop brightness that balances the chocolate and roasted malt flavor.
Mouthfeel is medium with a slight clinging residue of chocolate flavor.
Overall a well crafted porter.

From a 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This most excellent porter pours a
rich and rugged muddy brown with cola highlights and a nice head of
khaki foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin wispy pool, and displays
some nice sudsy lacing. Nose of dark chocolate, subtle cream, subtle
grain notes, mild herbal hops, and touches of char. Flavors exceed the
nose with a cream and char touched mildly sweet dark chocolate centered
malt with touches of coffee and hints of vanilla and marshmallow given
balance by mild yet spicy herbal hop notes. Excellent mouth feel; medium
full body, medium carbonation, and a rich char and chocolate driven finish.
Overall a phenomenal brew from an excellent brewery.
Cheers

12/26/14...on tap, pours very dark brown with tan foam. Roasted coffee nose. Rich roasted coffee flavor. Gritty mouthfeel. Milky back. Dark bitter chocolate. Really tasty. Nicely made.
