5 Grass is a refreshing yet substantial beer that is pale in color and nicely hoppy. With this beer, we wanted to invoke the brisk, clean aroma of the desert. The recipe makes use of three unique hop varieties as well as some carefully chosen herbs and spices - juniper, sage, and Tasmanian pepperberry, among others - to give a beautiful outdoorsy scent. With it’s smooth clean malt flavors and a unique, complex nose, 5 Grass is like a refreshing walk in the wide open spaces.

I love this beer. Drinking it fills you with the aroma of walking through a stand of junipers in the desert. It's a great achievement in beer. I wish it were more popular because sometimes it's hard to find. I love to sit out on my deck grilling on my gas grill while sipping on a bottle of 5 Grass. Wonderful experience.

My 4th in 5 Rabbit's 5 series of 4 (meaning, I've Had all of them) plus 3 I've had from their Gringolandia series...
After all those tastings, I think finally I understand what this brewery is trying to do: in designing beers to pair with Latin American food (more than just Mexican salsas), 5 Rabbit's made a niche for themselves that does not rely on hops like so many American crafters do. Instead, 5 Rabbit uses a variety of spices used in those Latin cuisines.
That said, 5 Grass still has lots of bitter hops (66 IBU), but even a hop-sensitive palate like mine doesn't seem to notice because the other spices are blended so well. Smells are mostly malt. Tastes reveal the pepper and other spices. But they stay too long for me and are a bit too dry. Solution is the same for too much hops: eat spicy food.
I will have this again; but not as a session... only with spicy food.

This seemed all right at first but hoppiness got in the way and was a little too astringent and potent for me. Kind of metallic and bitter of weeds and grass.
