Aged for 10 months in Jack Daniel whiskey barrels, our George Hunter Stout is given a nice bourbon, oak and vanilla flavor.

A- Sample this beer at Castle Danger tap room in snifter. Very close to black. Mildly carbonated
S-Thick malt aroma that's earthy, smokey and some hints of chocolate
T-The dark malt flavors highlighted with accents of coffee and chocolate are tasty, but it did not have the same body and dimension as some other Imperial Stouts. Some stouts have a heavy cherry and oak flavor but this beer did not contain them.
M-Smooth, dark and creamy, certainly pleasant but not the most flavorful
O-I enjoyed the dark malt taste profile of the beer, but it seemed to be a bit thin to be considered an imperial stout.

Notes of vanilla and caramel. Not as smooth as other barrel aged spots but Damn does it taste magnificent

Served in snifter at Castle Danger.
Pours a dark brown to black with a light mocha colored thin head that vanished quickly.
Smell: going to put this into 2 separate sections:
As served at about 40*F- smell of lightly burnt coffee and bitter chocolate. Very little evidence of the Jack Daniels.
Warmed to about 53*F- light vanilla and some really ice warming booziness, oak and just a little of chocolate flavor remains.
Taste: don't waste your time drinking in as served- too cold, let it warm up a bit, order another beer at the same time and drink it first and just let this baby unfold.
Mouthfeel- rich and creamy when warmed up with a nice boozy feel. A bit harsh as served.
Overall - my rating numbers are for after the beer has been allowed to warm up, if I rated it as served it would be around a 3.25. This might be one of the first beers I have had aged in Jack barrels, they added a slightly different character and made it a really enjoyable beer.

The Jack daniels barrels really show here. A lot of whiskey. Oak, vanilla, chocolate, and caramel. Warming but not in a hot way. Smooth and creamy. Just a step below bcs in my book.
2019 on tap at the brewery. Seems very roasty and charred. Chocolate and vanilla. Caramel and chocolate. Lots of oak and whiskey. Just too much roast for my liking. 3.75

look
nice billowing off-white/brownish-tan head
very black, not translucent at all
retains a light ring of head
smell
big cocoa
slight vanilla bean
caramelized sugar
taste
bitter chocolate
toasted marshmallow
hints of tobacco
coffee
banana
mouthfeel
lighter carbonation
not very syrupy/viscous
dry, and a bit hot
with a little grip between tongue and teeth
overall
A drier BA stout. Makes for a nice long sipper that doesn't get too sticky.
