The recipe for Bearwalker was among one of the first recipes written by Brewmaster Bailey years ago. Bearwalker is a Maple Brown and the recipe pays homage to Bailey’s home state of Vermont by having 100% Vermont Maple Syrup added to it. The result is a very distinctive maple syrup flavor that truly sets this beer apart and warms your belly. According to legend, the Bearwalkers were shape-shifters that would transform into giant, burly bears, usually to help settle their grudges.

Look: It pours brown with a tan head. Head retention is very good.
Smell: It has some roasted and caramel aromas with background notes of maple syrup. It has some spicy notes in the background with some light fruity notes.
Taste: The initial flavor it a bit sweet with maple syrup and light roast up front. There are some caramel and spicy elements with light fruitiness.
Feel: It has a medium body with a finish that is sweet.
Overall, a bit sweet for me.

Clear dark red nearing acorn brown with a tan head of airy caviar bubbles.
Mild in flavor, the slick yet round and smooth body nearly expresses in Oktoberfest leafiness with a touch of back sweetening maple and a little toastier malt there in the swallow.
A finely buzzing carbonation comes to a softly semi-dry finish.

Tasted on tap at Doherty's Irish Pub in Apex, NC.
L - Attractive medium brown color, but very clear and allows lots of light through. Some red highlights. Not much head, just tan wisps and some lacing.
S - Nice malt tones with low chocolate. Herbal hop nose at a low level. No maple on the nose that I can detect.
T - Bready malt with very low chocolate and some nuttiness. Grassy, herbal hops at a low level. No maple, again.
F - Light to medium body and dryish finish. Full, prickly carbonation. Medium hops bitterness. Gentle alcohol presence.
O - Delicious, excellently made American Brown Ale. From the name, I was hoping for maple character, but I didn't detect any. However, I have no complaints about what I felt was a very good brown ale in its own right.

A solid brown ale with that hint of maple that makes it something else.
Decent brown color and solid slightly hoppy but quite malty flavor of this style. The maple flavor is noticeable: it isn't sweet but the other notes of a maple syrup are there.

Appearance: Mahogany-hued with a slight haze to it. Medium-sized, ivory head.
Smell: Chocolaty, toasted breadcrust, a smattering of roasted malt and nutty with a restrained maple frosting element.
Taste: Just like the aroma, it's plenty of that chocolate powder with some toasty, roasty tones. Subtle sweetness. Slight earthy nuttiness throughout alongside the lasting maple flavor. Semi-dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: A competent brown with nice little maple accent without getting too sugary or overbearing.

On tap at the Goat in Murfreesboro, TN served in a pint glass
The beer pours a reddish amber/brown with two fingers worth of off white head that recedes slowly leaving behind a small amount of lacing
The aroma is nutty and sweet with hints of caramel and maple. A bit mild but pleasant
Mildly sweet and nutty, with a bit more maple that in the nose. Very clean and a bit bolder than the aroma would let on. Moderately carbonated and medium bodied.
Overall, this is a very nice example of the style.
