Notes/Commercial Description:
Thunder Ann came about after a massive google search trying to come up with a name that we thought could represent our American Pale Ale. That’s how we found out about a little lady name Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind Crockett. She was Davy Crockett’s wife (well, in the folklore, according to Wikipedia, he married someone named Mary) and she was a bad ass. Seriously. Look her up. We mulled it over and thought that Thunder Ann could also be a pretty great name for a beer.

I had the Thunder Ann as art of a flight in a restaurant in Nashville. It had the same coloring as the two IPAs I tasted, too. The smell was unremarkable - it just smelled like fresh, drinkable beer.

It's very drinkable and has a great mouthfeel that lingers for a surprising long time (which I liked). I could drink a few of these without tiring of it and would be quite happy. I would order it again, no doubt. That said, it didn't blow me away, but that's okay, too. It's very Summit Pale Ale like... Sierra Nevada PA, too.

A- I had this beer as a part of a flight as well as during the brewery tour. Thunder Ann had a mid-to-dark brown color. It reminded me of hazelnuts for whatever reason. When it was served to us, had a slight tannic head.

S- This beer had a hoppy smell to it with some hints of wood and hey in it.

T- Very similar to the smell with a nice earthy finish to it

M- The feeling in the mouth was the weakest characteristic, as I felt if should have lingered longer.

O- If you want a beer to chill on or to drink rather quickly, then this is your beer. Not the best beer I have ever had, but I wouldn't pass on it if I was offered some again.

Cheers,

Tony

No freshness date, poured into a pint

A- pours a slightly hazy amber color with a two-finger foamy and sudsy head that retains nicely long after the pour

S- nice hoppy aroma with notes of pine, citrus and floral hops. Underlying malty sweetness adds a touch of bready aroma

T- well balanced with some fruity hop notes, lightly toasted bready malt, slightly bitter finish

M- medium body with lots of carbonation leads to a big foamy mouthfeel and a sudsy and crisp dry finish

O- enough noticeable fruity hops, but well balanced to keep it in check for the style

Pours a clear, copper color. 1/4 inch head of a white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of citrus hops, hops, sweet malt, slight alcohol, and a hint of yeast. Fits the style of an American Pale Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of citrus hops, hops, slight sweet malt, slight alcohol, and a hint of yeast. Overall, decent appearance, aroma, and body.

Served on tap at Sturmhaus in Chattanooga, TN. First time trying this beer.

Appearance - clear copper color, served with nice head that dissipated quickly. Small amount of lacing on the glass.

Smell - distinct bannana smell. Not clean and hoppy like an APA should be.

Taste - banana again

Mouthfeel - average, nothing good or bad here.

Overall - should be a Belgian pale ale. Not sure what yeast they used, but it's too prevalent.

Had on tap in a pint glass in Nashville.

Pours a clear dark gold with a one finger white head. Ok lacing and head retention.

There is a light citrus aroma that is reminiscent of peach and mango.

The taste is very similar with the fruit being dominant however there is a little bread in there as well. The hop flavor as well as the malt flavor is weak, though, and quite muted. Mouthfeel is quite soft and on the sticky side, almost like it is not quite attenuated all the way.

Overall, an ok beer but just sort of messy and weak all around. Could use some cleaning up.
