A: Pours a golden yellow with two fingers worth of foamy white head. A constant heavy stream of bubbles flowing from the bottom of the glass. A thick foamy head remains the entire time and left a lot of thick lacing.

S: Lots of lemon citrus up front with a few faint spices. But for the most part this is all citrus.

T: Lots of lemon citrus again with a bit of orange as well. Not very complex but it’s very refreshing.

M: Medium fizzy carbonation with a light body.

O: Like I said it’s not a complex beer at all. But it does a great job of refreshing you. It would be great to drink on a patio or at the beach on a hot summer day.

Really like the labels of lost coast beers, poured a hazy orange color with nice fluffy head, smelled very citruisy (maybe a little overpwering) and spicey. The taste didnt match the aroma, a little bland, citruis was present but not enough for me.Not real complex but not horrible either.

Appearance – Light, cloudy yellow in color with a tinge of orange. The body was nice, but the head didn’t do much.

Smell – Light orange and grapefruit at the nose with a small wheat backbone.

Taste – The fruits come out a little bigger at the taste, especially the grapefruit flavor. The wheat base is there, but faintly.

Mouthfeel – Light to medium in the body with a bit of chewyness.

Drinkability – I thought the big grapefruit was a little off, but otherwise this was a valiant attempt at this difficult style.

Opened 12 fluid ounce bottle dated 05/08/08, poured into nonic glass.

There is a nice frothy low head atop a clear light yellow brew.

Smell is somewhat subdued, but taste has a nice slightly tart taste with notes of herb and spice. Nice bubbly mouth feel, finishes nicely with little to no aftertaste.

Serving Glass: Poured from bottle into white wine glass.

Appearance: Cloudy pale yellow with thin white head.

Smell: Sweet wheat, some citrus and grassiness.

Taste: Tastes like overly sweet wheat. Citrus is light and the spiciness is close to nonexistent. Claims there is coriander; not sure I believe it. Horribly unbalanced.

Feel: Moderate carbonation, light body, not at all dry.

Overall: Simply not a good Witbier

A-Thick white carbonated head. Hazy yellow golden color.
S-Citrusy orange aroma with ale yeast esters noticeable-hints of wheat and barley.
T-Similiar to Belgian witbier except with an off flavor (kind of soapy) that hampers this beer.
M-Soft tasting-not crisp ends mellow with a hint of bitterness-highly carbonated yet tastes a bit flat.
O-An average wit without much character.

Appearance is slightly cloudy but brilliant yellow with a lively off-white head. Aroma is full of fruity esters like orange, lemon, peach, mango and then some bread dough like yeastiness and finally some fresh herbs like basil. Very complex. Taste...mmm...kind of like a summer meadow in a glass. Fruits, flowers, herbs, and yes, some maltiness, too. Just enough hop bitterness to balance any sweetness. Despite all the esters it's not a very sweet beer and actually finishes semi-dry for a very thirst quenching pint. I've had this now from the bottle and on tap at their little brewpub. It's outrageously delicious on tap and the brewpub has the best grub in town. A bit more subdued in the bottle but definately worth seeking out.

Bottle (2011)

San Marcos, CA

A pale tangerine with a hazy, white cloudiness throughout. Thin white head and not much lacing.

The aroma is citrus-like, predominantly lemon and oranges. I don't smell much spice--or anything much at all for that matter, except some lemon and orange.

Some initial sweetness, then some hop bitterness and citrus and also a graham cracker flavor as well. Little, if any, notes of coriander or other spices. Disappointing for the style--simple and undefined.

A thin mouthfeel and not a lot of carbonation.

A citrusy witbier lacking spices, character, and definition. An extremely simple and average witbier.

Golden yellow color, head quickly disappears, leaving a thin film and lacing, not too exciting.

The aroma that first tickles my olfactory nerve is not entirely pleasant. There is an obvious orange peel smell coupled with spice and something that resembles dirty socks. Perhaps even a hint of rotten eggs, but it is probably from the combination of malts, hops and spices.

The body is somewhat thin and dry, lacking in richness and the taste is pretty much the same as the smell. Orange peel, some spice and not much more. It is far from inspiring and I will probably stay away from this one unless I have to, or someone hands me a bottle. Turning down a beer is always alcohol abuse in my book.

This was a decent witbier, not as flavorful as others i have had, but still refreshing.

the appearance is a nice pale gold, with a finger head that quickly dissipates. there is a tad bit of lacing at the beginning, but it fades after a few minutes.

it has a yeasty smell, and a faint citrusy smell.

yeasty taste, citrusy, wheaty.

it is light even for a witbier, very easy to drink, good for a hot summer day. carbonation is light to moderate, felt bubbly to me.

overall, i like it. good beer for a hot florida day.

A shark on the label of a watered down wheat?

OK, that may be a little harsh. Its an into level beer I guess. Boring appearance, a little better than a BMC, but then again, not even as impressive as what Blue Moon brings to the table.

No noticeable aroma, taste is much the same, you might pick up faint lemon & coriander aspects of it, but barely, and you might be searching to find even that. No hops, no aftertaste.

On tap served in a pint glass

A - Cloudy golden-amber with egg shell white one finger head. Min head retention, minimal lacing.

S - Zesty orange and lemon with a wheat backbone.

T - Wheaty but a bit too too much citrus. Smooth and a bit of coriander spicy.

M - Medium carbonation, medium body

O - I like witbiers and this just didn't impress me. Instead of taking time on art design with their sharky they should work on balancing their beers better.
