Very refreshing taste with a lovely note of fruit. Like the fact that the fruit taste is not too strong. Very light beer and perfect for the summertime. Since it is so light it's very drinkable and smooth. (205 characters)

Aroma is somewhat soapy, with a touch of tangerine pith.

Flavor reveals a lot more tangerine presence, with a lightly toasted malt backbone. The tangerine is reprised as pith in the lightly bitter finish. (205 characters)

Poured from a tap at World of Beer in Columbus, Easton. The tangerine and citrus aroma is very pronounced, and does enhance the experience. Good choice when in the mood for a citrus beer. (189 characters)

Drank straight out the bottle.
Looks- partially cloudy, mind you i couldn't see much cause its in the bottle.
Smell- light tangerine peels. Minor wheat.
Taste- medium citrus level, tangerine peel which didn't over power the wheat, which is good.
Feel- full bodied, medium carbonated.
Overall- another good "hot camping summer day brew" which i will be drinking ice cold, i definitely enjoyed it. Its something else besides the "cant hardly taste the blood orange brews out there", well i tasted this tangerine quite well....enjoy. (530 characters)

The aroma makes a promise that the flavor doesn't keep. Smells like a basket of oranges, but falls flat and comes across as tonic water with a squirt of orange in it. (167 characters)

I had this beer twice. The first was on tap at a local taproom. The second was when I purchased a 22 some weeks later. My first experience was unexpectedly pleasant. It smelled like tangerines, tasted bright and refreshing, and was perfect for the sunny afternoon. My second experience was not so good. I don't know if it was just the bottle, but it tasted like detergent. I couldn't finish it, and ended up dumping the entire thing. (433 characters)

BOD 11/6/14. Pours a slightly cloudy light amber gold. Below normal head volume and retention, normal lacing.

Outstanding nose of sweet tangerine that has a nice crisp airiness to it over a rich biscuit base.

Light medium body with a smooth texture. Slightly above normal carbonation with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a nice burst in the finish.

The flavor profile is good, but lacks intensity and comes across as a bit weak. Complexity is slight - it is a weak tangerine over a weak biscuit sweetness. Balance is very good. It begins with weak tangerine over a slight biscuit sweetness that flows into a slightly bitter middle. The finish is a bit crisp and a slight tangerine rind bitterness lingers. Up the flavor intensity and this one becomes outstanding. It's got all the right components in balance, just not enough of them. (855 characters)

Tried this on draft this past weekend. Looks very nice, very orange-y. Tangerines definitely appear in the flavor profile, but this beer seems a bit thinner than I was expecting, almost watery. It was good and enjoyable, yet not a world-class beer by any means.

Worth a try... as most beers are. (302 characters)

This is my wife's favorite beer - and she hates beer. I have to keep it in the fridge. So, for those who are not looking for a hoppy, sour, palate destroying taste, this is the beer for you. As soon as you pop the cap, a burst of tangerine smell hits you and then when you are finished, the taste lingers like a wheat biscuit on the back of your tongue. (353 characters)

When I rate a beer I try to be objective. Even if I don't particularly appreciate a certain style I try to rate it according to other beers in the style that I have tried. I have been to Lost Coast Brewery and it was a great experience. However Tangerine Wheat was anything but great. I hope it was an old bottle or my glass was used to clean a toilet. It was very very orangey but after about a second I had to force a swallow and drain pour the rest. I'll try it one more time and see, but as of this review. Avoid! (517 characters)

Tangerine Wheat - Lost Coast Brewery and Cafe. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this has got a one finer thick finely porous white head, thin lateral lacing, and a hazy light golden body.

I can certainly smell the tangerine, it shines through among all the other very pleasant and refreshing scents I'm picking up with this brew. This smells like summer in a glass to me.

I taste crisp wheat brew elements with the perfect addition of true tangerine flavor. Nothing ade-y or fructose syrupy is present in this brew, just natural and delicious!

Mouthfeel is clean and smooth. I can't hardly tell I just took a hearty swig of beer.

Overall a solid 4.5 for Tangerine Wheat - Lost Coast Brewery and Cafe. I was pleasantly surprised by the non-artificiality of the tangerine flavor. (801 characters)

West coast, west coast, west coast boyeeee.

Appearance (3.75) : Fluffy vanilla-colored three finger head atop a hazy golden glow of wonder. Opacity about 60%. Head retention is good.

Smell (4.75) : Fresh tangerines, straight from the orchard. (okay, I've never been in an orchard, but I have seen fresh produce...) Yeah, mega tangerine... I mean, it just smells like a tangerine. It should win an award for that. It actually smells like I'm opening a tangerine at the breakfast table. I doubt I'd be able to discern a difference blindfolded between this and the real deal. I'll give it a 4.75 if just for the wow factor. There is a little sugary sweetness behind it, but I'll chalk it up to a really sweet tangerine.

Taste (4.5) : To me this is like drinking a witbier and sucking on a Tic-Tac. Dude, it's that good. It finishes with style and leaves me wanting more. I just want to keep drinking it. Oh, I guess I should be objective here : some wheat and grains, citrus rind, and finishes gloriously with tangerine and/or orange tic-tac. Gotta love beer.

Mouthfeel (4) : Creamy, medium-bodied, lightly carbonated. Ends effervescently dry.

Overall (4.24) : Would I drink this again? Dude, sign me up to buy cases. This is a pleasant beer all around. The smell blew me away, and the taste did little to sway that opinion. Mouthfeel is spot on for the style, and what else is left? The design of the bottle is catchy, too. Tangerine Wheat is fab. (1,451 characters)

Sampling right now on 8/4/14. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a pilsner pint glass.

Pours a slight hazy golden in color with a thin white head. Some sediment is seen in the bottom of the bottle after the pour. Medium/+ carbonation. Some light spotty lacing is seen when sipped. The aroma is of tangerine zest for the most part and some grains. Lots more tangerine zest flavor for the taste mixed with some grains/wheat. Very slight dry bitter finish that doesn't last at all. Overall, a very decent summer brew. (551 characters)

On tap at the brewpub.
Pale golden worth a decent head. Some spotty lacing.

Clear and surprisingly strong tangerine aroma.

While the first sip was best, it did not get cloying and I had no trouble finishing it.

Light body with lively, medium-high carbonation.

O. A bit artificial and a tad too sweet. High grade wine cooler substitute? Still, tasty and refreshing. (371 characters)

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass

A: Cloudy and burnt orange hue with a half inch head.

S: Strong citrus notes with the sweetness of malt. I also noticed faint hints of wheat.

T: As the smell indicates a strong tangerine hit initially, gradually fades. A bitter aftertaste is left on the back of the tongue, not much sweetness.

M: Light and not as thick as expected. The carbonation can be felt over the tongue, quite tingly.

O: I would not be so quick to buy this next time, but it was not bad. It was worth a try. I will say it was not among my favorites but I have had others I liked less. In short it is worth a try if you are looking for something on a warm pleasant day. (688 characters)

Its name says it all- woven together with the bready-sweet taste of wheat and then cast in a veil of vibrant oranges, it's quite clear that this is as close as ale can come to creamsickles.

Even in its appearance, the hazy golden ale catches a glimmer of orange and peach as it settles into the weizen glass. Its diffused glow gives a charming appearance as a tall column of foam commands the rim like creamy lather. Wishing the frothy character could last longer, the beer trails with broken lace during the first half of the session.

Overtones of oranges fill the nose with creamy, candied and fruit. Its tangerine character is obvious while scents of light bread, grain and leaf slide underneath. Even its grassy hop character seems to come from the leaf of citrus trees as its herbal roundness kicks in.

Those bready sweet flavors aren't gentle- this is a sweet beer- perfect for the tangerine flavor that grows exponentially through the middle palate. Its culmination is highly sherbet-like with its tangy acidity, fructose sweetness and confectionary malt flavor. Its balance is herbal and leafy, given a lemongrass type of bitterness that signals closure to its taste.

Its rich sweetness is kept creamy with bready malts that reluctantly yield its carbonation- further reinforcing its creamsickle character. The ale wavers slightly as its minty warmth grows and its herbal bitterness intensifies- drying the beer tepidly yet allowing sweetness to linger long on the back end.

Easily seduced by the ripe orange flavor, any notion of ale are easy to dismiss. But in the end, the beer is grainy-sweet to a fault and its orange taste becomes way too dominant, not allowing the classic ale-like taste to become part of its story. (1,736 characters)

12oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. Date on the bottle says 10/16/13

A: Pours a cloudy orange with a one finger off white head

S: Very strong tangerine scent and not much else.

T: Follows the nose. With the addition of some slight metallic flavors.

M: Very light and watery mouthfeel. Carbonation is crisp. THere is a faint tartness left on the palette.

O: Its ok I would drink it if it were offered to me, this would make a decent beer for all day drinking. (469 characters)

Cloudy apricot color with a fizzy tall head that set up tightly but wafted away.

The scent is a lot of tangerines with what I perceive is to be apricot.

The flavor is a ton of tangerines with apricot but it's so strong that that it could be thought to be artificial. It's nice but perhaps loses the beer like qualities that it should hold.

The feel is nice with a touch of astringency but easy enough to drink.

I believe this to be a beer that is suited to taste. If you are a fan of beers with strong tangerines and apricot sweetness than this is up your alley. (566 characters)

Orange in colour with a small white head. Head fades quickly, some lace.

The nose is all tangerine, smells like juice. There is a wheat scent as well, but it doesn't blend well.

Taste is like the nose. Almost all tangerine, with some wheat and an odd bitterness. The bitterness is jarring and the tangerine overpowering.

Light bodied, highly carbonated. Irritating.

Overall, not a winner. I would rather just have a tangerine. (431 characters)

Very cloudy golden rose color with one finger of foamy white head that departs rapidly leaving no lace.
Smell is amazing blast of tangerines.
Taste was a bit of a letdown after the great smell. Has some wheat beer qualities but the acids from the tangerine and lots of rind beat the wheat into submission. There is some bitterness from the hops that tends to level the sweetness from the fruit.
Mouthfeel is smooth slightly high carbonation made it a bit prickly on the tongue. Perhaps the acidity from the fruit made it more so.
Overall a pretty good fruit beer on a hot summer evening which it is right now. I think you could do better with a decent wheat beer and squeeze an orange wedge or half a tangerine into the beer. (727 characters)

Smelled orange, tangerine, pulp, orange rind and maybe some citrus hops. Simple, yet good. Got orange, tangerine, orange rind, orange pulp, wheat and grass. Reminded me a bit of an orange creamsicle, orange Smarties and the orange type of dental cleaning powder. Light body. Thin-to-oily texture. Lively carbonation. Astringent, crisp and refreshing finish. A excellent fruit beer not fruity to the extent of disgust. I would highly recommend this seasonal specialty! One of the top on my list under this category. 150 calories per bottle 5% ABV. (546 characters)

From: World Market in La Mesa (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $1.99
Purchased: July 11, 2013
Consumed: July 13, 2013

Poured a honey orange hazy color with two fingers of frothy white head. Minimal wet foggy lacing on the sides with some sporadic spots. Decent retention on the way down.

Smelled orange, tangerine, pulp, orange rind and maybe some citrus hops. Simple, yet good.

Tasted similar to the nose as expected, yet not quite as good.

A pretty good fruit beer overall, although I’m usually a sucker for these ones (not summer beers though). Nice for the summer. (898 characters)

This pours a lemony golden color. There’s a barely perceptible citrus aroma to this. I can almost taste a hint of tangerine along with some orange peel and a hint of coriander. There’s some fizz on the end of this otherwise forgettable beer. With so much out there I’d pass on this next time. (298 characters)

If you like tangerine this beer is for you! I really enjoyed this brew and the low scores it gets is beyond me. If it is hot out and I am thirsty this beer hits the nail on the head. Slight tangerine taste that mixes well with the classic wheat beer taste. Winter...I can see this beer sucking but on a summer day relaxing boom! homerun! good job Lost Coast.

Bottom Line: awesome summer brew! (393 characters)
