Smelled orange, tangerine, pulp, orange rind and maybe some citrus hops. Simple, yet good. Got orange, tangerine, orange rind, orange pulp, wheat and grass. Reminded me a bit of an orange creamsicle, orange Smarties and the orange type of dental cleaning powder. Light body. Thin-to-oily texture. Lively carbonation. Astringent, crisp and refreshing finish. A excellent fruit beer not fruity to the extent of disgust. I would highly recommend this seasonal specialty! One of the top on my list under this category. 150 calories per bottle 5% ABV.

A guest review from my wife of one of her favorite fruit beers.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into an Ayinger pilsner glass. Pours a peachy amber color, cloudy and fairly fizzy with a thin skim of head.

In your face tangerine aroma; clementines, tangerine rind, honey and hints of malt combine for a very pleasant smell. Think Orange Crush, but not as sweet.

Taste is much milder than aroma. Tangerine is still prominent, with a mild bready flavor, with the maltiness quickly fading for a quiet finish.

Has a thinish mouthfeel, somewhat soft and refereshing due to the citrusy zing. The tang is felt more than tasted, likely due to the carbonation.

The strong tangerine flavor combined with this brew is how a wheat beer should be; forget adding the orange to Blue Moon, this is the beer you want!

Very refreshing taste with a lovely note of fruit. Like the fact that the fruit taste is not too strong. Very light beer and perfect for the summertime. Since it is so light it's very drinkable and smooth.

Great Summer Session Beer!

Good in bottle - Better on Tap! Can adjust CO2 for better head and head retention.

Light cloudy orange appearance with a bright tangerine smell.
Strong tangerine taste on front, followed by surprising lingering fuller wheat complexity, nice alcohol burn, and bright lemon finish that begs for another sip!

Warning if you don't go right back for that other sip a baby aspirin taste creeps in.

ALL In All - A Great Breakfast Beer that you can continue to drink all day!
Remember - You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning!

Purchased in Weaverville, CA at Tops Market.

This beer had a pretty foggy/hazzy appearance. Smelled like a pretty nice tangerine. The taste was quite surprising, I had never had a fruity beer before, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. There was medium carbonation from what I noticed. In my opinion, fruity beers have kinda been more of a 'girlie' thing, but after finally having one, I can say this would be a good beer to have on a hot day for any guy. Enjoyable when you just want to kick back.

Tangerine Wheat - Lost Coast Brewery and Cafe. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this has got a one finer thick finely porous white head, thin lateral lacing, and a hazy light golden body.

I can certainly smell the tangerine, it shines through among all the other very pleasant and refreshing scents I'm picking up with this brew. This smells like summer in a glass to me.

I taste crisp wheat brew elements with the perfect addition of true tangerine flavor. Nothing ade-y or fructose syrupy is present in this brew, just natural and delicious!

Mouthfeel is clean and smooth. I can't hardly tell I just took a hearty swig of beer.

Overall a solid 4.5 for Tangerine Wheat - Lost Coast Brewery and Cafe. I was pleasantly surprised by the non-artificiality of the tangerine flavor.

This is my wife's favorite beer - and she hates beer. I have to keep it in the fridge. So, for those who are not looking for a hoppy, sour, palate destroying taste, this is the beer for you. As soon as you pop the cap, a burst of tangerine smell hits you and then when you are finished, the taste lingers like a wheat biscuit on the back of your tongue.

Appearance - Pours a bright yellowish-orange color (similar to orange juice) with a VERY thin head that dissipates instantly. Not much to say for lacing either.

Smell - All I can really smell is the tangerine, it overpowers everything else that is there. Still smells delicious though.

Taste - Besides the dominant tangerine flavor and zest.. it's very bready and malty. Sweet and tangy with a little bit of coriander in the background. Can't forget the wheat lol.. It all blends together very well.

Mouthfeel - Light-medium bodied with mild carbonation.

Overall - I love this beer. It's nice to try something different.. After about 10 minutes the foam and lacing was completely gone, but I can't say it had a negative effect on the flavor. You probably shouldn't to drink this beer if you have acid reflux, it's quite acidic. I'm finding this out afterward.. lol

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a standard pint.
The cup runneth over with the explosive white head as it falls out of the bottle forming a peaceful golden body releasing and aroma
of strong orange blossoms. This carries over to the essence of tangerine that latches on as you roll up for the first sip.
As you except this first sip your taste buds pick up the wheat that is well masked behind the citrus storm. The citrus tingles the tongue as it rolls across and falls away. The head really doesn't have time to fade away into the glass because the beer in the glass isn't in there very long. This is a light drink that sit at only 5%, perfect for the hot summer day, one after another. This is also a great breakfast for those weekend mornings you want to start early.

A - Pours a hazy golden orange with a thumb of light bubbly head leaving no real lacing after the settle.

S - Oranges and bubble gum overpower the scent. Wheat grass comes through a bit on the finish, but it's quite mild and almost undetectable.

T - Beer and orange juice. The bottle says a 'bit of tangerine'... That's an understatement! The orange flavour is quite strong, but in a nice refreshing way. Again, the wheat comes through, but it is rather mild. There's also a bit of a sour lemon flavour which hits you on the finish.

M - Perfect amount of carbonation, and goes down smooth. Every sip leaves you thirsty for more.

D- This stuff is simply amazing. A tasty summertime beverage, and this one would be perfect as a 'hair-of-the-dog' type drink after a night of drinking! The orange is quite dominant, but there's enough wheaty/malty flavours that linger to remind you that it's still beer. I wish this stuff came in a 6-pack, because it's the perfect summertime beer.

Poured from a tap at World of Beer in Columbus, Easton. The tangerine and citrus aroma is very pronounced, and does enhance the experience. Good choice when in the mood for a citrus beer.

Split a bomber with andrenaline at a bbq & beer tasting
A - I got the first half of the bottle and it was more clear golden orange, but andrenaline got the last half and it had a much more cloudy wheat appearance, short white head didn't retain much
S - no surprise it smells like tangerine, BUT was surprised at how strong! Also some grainy wheat hints.
T - I used to make "breakfast beers" while camping which is just beer topped off with some O.J., and this is a better version. Very clean orange citrus and wheat flavours, just a pleasant taste.
M - a good thin, clean, crisp and refreshing
D - I could pound this all day in the sun

West coast, west coast, west coast boyeeee.

Appearance (3.75) : Fluffy vanilla-colored three finger head atop a hazy golden glow of wonder. Opacity about 60%. Head retention is good.

Smell (4.75) : Fresh tangerines, straight from the orchard. (okay, I've never been in an orchard, but I have seen fresh produce...) Yeah, mega tangerine... I mean, it just smells like a tangerine. It should win an award for that. It actually smells like I'm opening a tangerine at the breakfast table. I doubt I'd be able to discern a difference blindfolded between this and the real deal. I'll give it a 4.75 if just for the wow factor. There is a little sugary sweetness behind it, but I'll chalk it up to a really sweet tangerine.

Taste (4.5) : To me this is like drinking a witbier and sucking on a Tic-Tac. Dude, it's that good. It finishes with style and leaves me wanting more. I just want to keep drinking it. Oh, I guess I should be objective here : some wheat and grains, citrus rind, and finishes gloriously with tangerine and/or orange tic-tac. Gotta love beer.

Mouthfeel (4) : Creamy, medium-bodied, lightly carbonated. Ends effervescently dry.

Overall (4.24) : Would I drink this again? Dude, sign me up to buy cases. This is a pleasant beer all around. The smell blew me away, and the taste did little to sway that opinion. Mouthfeel is spot on for the style, and what else is left? The design of the bottle is catchy, too. Tangerine Wheat is fab.

We first must say we are usually drinking stouts or porters. In addition, from experience most beers claiming tangerine flavor/taste were disappointing. That is not the case with this beer. Right from the start this beer has a strong tangerine aroma on the nose. A nice clean white ivory head implies the carbonation that is in this beer. This beer also has a slight thickness that is unexpected. The flavor of tangerine also comes out in the taste with only an extremely slight bitterness but an effervescence that clears out the bitterness leaving the orangey taste. A really great summer beer.

L: Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber color with a medium sized white colored head that leaves some lacing down the glass as it fades.
S: Smells of sweet toasted wheat, some malt, and a nice amount of tangerine in the nose.
T: Tastes of sweet toasted wheat, some toasted malts, and then a lot of tangy tangerine citrus flavors. Pretty nice actually, I liked how it wasn't too sweet but had a lot of tangerine flavor.
M: Smooth, fresh, refreshing, perfect amount of carbonation, light feeling, tangy, and fruity.
D: Very drinkable, this would be great on the beach. Overall a nice mix of flavors and feel. It was more tangerine flavor than I was expecting and I surprisingly liked it.

Appearance: Pours a clear, orange-copper body with a thin, meager head.

Smell: A bottle politely mentions a "hint" of tangerine, but, damn it, I say there's more than a hint! A lovely, tangerine laden nose is what it is, friends.

Taste: A solid dose of wheat, but it's mainly sweet, juicy tangerines. Sweetish at first, but then it gives way to more citrus and a light, vague bitterness. Citrusy all the way through to the end, babies!

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.

Drinkability: Just when I was griping about a lack of tangerine-based beers Lost Coast saves the day.

The Tangerine Wheat from Lost Coast is very good. If your hanging with some hotties and want them to try a good fruit style beer....this is it. The appearance I thought was lacking...the color was a cloudy burnt yellow color. The was zero head present and no lacing. The smell was AMAZING....like an orange Life Savor....very good! The taste had a big orange/tangerine taste with hints of spices. This could be compared to a Blue Moon with Orange Peel. The mouthfeel was very smooth and easy to drink....great summer beer.

Served in a standard weizen glass with a home grilled thin cut ribeye steak. Mmmm-mmm!

A - Tone somewhere between orange and amber with an extremely thin white head which dissapated very quickly. A bit cloudy, but not as much sediment as most wheats I've had.

S - Strong tangerine aroma, just as the name implies!

T - Sweet and tangy tangerine and lemon peel with a very mildly malty finish. For such a low alcohol beer, I was suprised to detect a distinct alcohol taste at the end. No real hops present.

M - Medium carbonation...about right for the style I'd say.

D - Very easy to drink. This is a tasty wheat that would do well on a hot summer day after mowing the lawn. Certainly more interesting than a simple lager.

The brew paired very well with the steak! I used a mild seasoning, but the natural flavors of the steak played well with the citrus...almost like a marinade. This was a very fun beer as far as wheats go.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass, this beer pours with a smell like you are actually peeling a tangerine. I'm impressed so far. Pours a slightly hazy yellow-gold color with a thick, foamy, dense white head. Picture perfect for a Wheat. As I said before, it smells like an actual peeled tangerine. When you get your nose deep in there you get some effervescent versions of the citrus smells, and the constant flow of bubbles also shows a high level of carbonation. In mouth that carbonation makes the beer a bit sharp, but the flavors are made to be crisp and light. Full flavors of light malt, oat/cereal, and a surprisingly light citrus highlight. With the nose of this beer, I was almost expecting a mouthful of Orange Crush, but the citrus aspect was a nice balance rather than an overpowering ogre. The beer stays light and crisp throughout drinking, with a minimal citrus aftertaste on an extremely quick finish. This beer is super-easy to drink by the bucket, and on a hot day I would absolutely fill a cooler with this brew.

*Now I'm not usually a fan of these Shock Top Esque American Wheat Beers but this one took me by surprise by how balanced the sweet tangerine and hop bitterness was.

A: Orange in hue with a fuzzy head.

S: Citrus, Tangerine, American Hops

T: Malty Tangerine with some hop flavor. Tastes almost like a tangerine cool-aid beer.

MF: slightly High carbonation. Thick mouthfeel due to the wheat.

D: one of the most refreshing ales I've had so far. This is perfect for spring/summer on the beach, bbq, Poolside, anywhere in the sun basically. This beer is alot more intricate in flavor and aroma than beers like shock-top or blue moon IMO.

screw the haters on this one, this beer kicks ass. whether you like fruit beers or not, you have to respect this one. so much flavor! the pour is a relatively standard looking pale wheat color with a lacey but thin white head. the nose is epic, so much tangerine, right from the tree. its acidic and sweet, tangy and robust, its juicy and alive, all at once. its fantastic, and it crowds out any heavy vibes from the wheat malt in both taste and smell. all those aromas carry through to the flavor, which is equally orangey and refreshing. there is no other brew out there this heavy on the tangerine citrus element. its uncanny really. more than enough carbonation, made a little heavy from the left over yeast, but to me this is inconsequential, as the tangerine notes make this beer as light as can be. a perfect spring break lounge chair sipper, winter transformer, or everyday slammer. i absolutely adored this beer, and im sorry to see it rated so low. i think its a rare thing in the beer world to encounter a brew with so much fruit character that isnt sweet or fake. this is really lovely, dont let the ratings throw you off.

New beer on tap at bdubs. A good way to stay cool on this 102 degree day!

Appearance - cloudy, muddy orange. Good hold to the thin finger of creamy foam.

Aroma - bright and tangeriny. Some wheat influence softens things. Good resilience too.

Taste - a smooth, almost milky orange, like an Orange Julius beer. Solid fruit flavor without sugary sweetness. Even a touch of rind tartness.

Mouthfeel - very smooth and easy sailing. Full body for a wheat but still refreshing.

Drinkability - goes down way too easy.

For starters, because the beer comes in a conditioned bottle, its imperative that this beer is not drank from the bottle and poured correctly. My wife poured one of these beers incorrectly leaving all the yeast and sedimet in the bottle and her beer looked and tasted(bad) completly different than mine. On to the review:

Appearance-The beer pours clear with a dark blond color and some carbonation at first and then turns into a cloudy deep orange color with the final swirl from the conditiioned bottle. It takes a few minutes for the beer to settle and develope it's unfiltered characteristics. The head is a fluffy bright white color and looks like it may die down toward the end. The deep orange color is appealing but I expected a thicker head from a wheat.

Smell-It smells like orange juice...plan and simple. The orange smell is impressive and inviteing but I would like something in there to tell me its beer and I didnt get it.

Taste- The beer tast just like it smells. The orange is dominant but but there is a slit bitterness at the end (the very end) and some light carbonation that lets you know that its beer.

Mouthfeel- The feel is very thin and the beer goes down like water. I typically dont drink beer very fast but this may be the easiest drinking beer I have had and the glass was empty in just a few pulls. It drinks much like an american mega brewed lager without the graininess. I expected a much heavier feel for an unfiltered wheat and thought this was the beers weakest charicteristic.

Overall- If you searching for hopps and malts you will be disapointed in this brew. However, evaluating the beer for what it is (fruit beer) I think it hit its mark quite well. This beer is well crafted and is defiinatley an above average fruit beer. The beer needed a thicker head with more lacing on the glass and lacked complexity to be considered a nop notch beer. This beer would be an excellant picnic beer or hot wheater beer. It would also be an excellant entry level beer for someone new to craft beer. Overall I enjoyed the beer. It is definatley interesting and worth checking out.

The Tangerine Wheat poured a semi hazy yellowish orange color with not much head or lacing.
The smell was awesome. One whiff and you were overwhelmed with the lovely essence of the tangerine. The taste was fairly bitter with a good wheat malt to it with a dominant tangerine. it was pretty thin and mildly carbonated. Overall not a bad fruit beer effort.

Beer poured a 1.5 finger head that dies quickly. Cloudy orangish-amber color looks rather intriguing. Smell is what I expected, wheaty with tangerines. Taste is a pretty straight forward, a wheat beer with a tangerine finish. It's a simple beer that is very easy to drink. However, I think I'd get bored with it after a couple.
