Had on tap at the Pizza Plant on Transit last night, poured into a small snifter style glass a full rich copper color with a slight chill haze a small but well formed head atop.A mix of juicy sweet malt and intense piney hop the sweetness is dark fruit and caramel there is a bit of a alcohol zing in the nose a s well, the flavors are alot like the aromas rich and sweet up front with that dark fruit and caramel sweet base about midway an intense resiny pine hop character comes thru and lingers for quite awhile. Its a bit heavy even after just a few swallows but the flavors a full and take no prisoners,a nice new DIPA to enjoy out there.

Tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Clear orange pour with a minimal head. Resiny hops with grapefruit and wood. Bittersweet bite up front that moves into the resiny goodness. Malty transition that gets a bit syrupy, but not too overpowering. Hops and malt in the long finish. Nice.

Lost Coast Double Trouble IPA on tap at The Poe House (NC).

Clear amber, with excellent clarity. Average off-white head and sticky lacing
Earthy hop aroma is less appealing than the more complex and fruitier taste.

Feel: medium-light body seems a tad light but is not watery. Medium-low carbonation.

O: needs a better aroma to excel.

Lost Coast- Double Trouble IPA

On tap at Isaac Newton's- Newtown, PA

A- Hazy deep brown with a moderate size foamy head and lacing.
S- Caramel malt and citrus peel, orange and grapefruit.
T- Vanilla caramel malt with an equal balance of grapefruit/ orange rind hops.
M- Big chewy malt wit an evolving dry bitter hopiness. No alc. detected for an 8.5% alc beer.

Overall- Tasty session IPA. Too easy to drink for the high Alc.

On-tap at JP McGrady's in Bethlehem

This one is on the thick side. The hops are big and brash, yet balanced enough to be drinkable. They come off with a candied (from the malt) citrus zest with hints of pine and earthy spice that hit you strong in the aroma, through the flavor and long into the aftertaste. There's also a strong light-caramel malt flavor. It's nice, but more than I'd want in a DIPA. The same goes for the body. It's smooth enough, but just thicker than I'd want, especially for an 8.5% beer.

This kicked me in the mouth. I wasn't prepared for the hops in this one, even though I knew it was a double IPA.
Strong dark copper color with a minimal head. Golden tones and a little ruby shimmer in the glass.

Smelled of citrus and sweet malt. Not very sharp hop smell, but very smooth and fruity.

I took a sip, strong amber and toasted malt flavors first off, then an overwhelming bitterness from the hop content. That releases to let the malt and citrus flavor of the hops come through. Very surprisingly bitter, but gets more palatable as I got further through the pint.

This is a great sipping beer, and if you like IPA's or double/imperial IPA's, this is recommended.

A: Perfect for the style. A hazy to clear reddish amber color with a solid 1-2 inches of head when poured into a snifter. Just the way I like it.

S: I could smell cascade hops, but that was about it. I would really have like to have been able to make out some malts or other hops in there too. Kinda disappointing.

T: Well balanced with floral and some hints of piney hops. There are definitely caramel malts in this brew, but WHY couldn't I smell them?

M/D: Pretty much right on for the style. Medium carbonation with a little kick as you sip, with a nice smooth finish.

On tap at Capone's. Not sure if this is the same as he had it as the 'Double Trouble Pilsner', but I'll use this as a place holder just in case. Poured a medium and cloudy golden color with a small sized white head. Aromas of some grassiness, floral, and toasty. Tastes of the same floral and toastiness with some caramel and citrus in the end.
