Obtained at "Sanctuary" pub in Iowa City. On-tap, and requested in a tulip glass; reviewed live.

Translucent gold body with a three-finger, frothy, pure-white head. Great retention and lacing. Aroma is of boundless citrus, mostly grapefruit and lemon but with some orang pulling through as well. Bitter, floral hops are also prominent, and a solid pine aroma exists throughout. Taste is more subdued than the nose, consisting of watered-down citrus, mild earthen hops, pine resin, alcohol, and a dirty grain flavor. Mouthfeel is surprisingly undercarbonated, soft, and watery. Piney syrup clings to the palate. I attribute this to the "new, experiential faucet" that this beer was poured from. I noticed it prior to ordering, asked if it was a nitro-tap (it's similar in appearance, but more steeply curved and lacking the black polymer tip). Alas, the faucet seems to plunder the carbonation from the body. Overall, I think this one has potential, but beware the serving method. Worth trying.

Another birthday beer. On tap at Brass Tap. Copper clear pour with nearly no head, lots of light coming through. Aroma of caramel malts and some grapefruit. Slick mouthfeel and some nice dry pine hop flavor, bit of earthy malt to go along with it, making it a little heavy. A little heavy on the style, medium low carbonation. Not particularly easy drinking but not bad. Sipper for an IPA.

Lost Coast Double Trouble IPA on tap at The Poe House (NC).

Clear amber, with excellent clarity. Average off-white head and sticky lacing
Earthy hop aroma is less appealing than the more complex and fruitier taste.

Feel: medium-light body seems a tad light but is not watery. Medium-low carbonation.

O: needs a better aroma to excel.
