Big fan of the downtown brown, sadly, it's only available from one beer and wine shop in town, so it's a rare treat.
Malty and sweet, clear deep brown color. Modest foam, that dissipates rather quickly. Nice refreshing brown, very clean taste, none of the mustiness that occasionally accompanies malty beers.

Tasted from a 12 oz bottle.
A - Appears a medium to dark brown in the glass, deep copper/orange when held up to the light. Perfectly clear. Beige head is thick, creamy and long-lasting. Huge curtains of lace. Very attractive beer.
S - Nutty malt aromas, with some crystal malt and even a bit of chocolate and roasted grain. It all smells clean and subtle. No hops or yeast evident in nose.
T - Flavors of grassy hops mix with the malts from the nose. Not as much malt as expected from the aromas. Light chocolate and roast. No yeast character.
M - Thin body. Smooth carbonation. A smooth and oily mouthfeel makes me wonder if there are oats in the grain bill. Significant hops bitterness, but no alcohol burn.
O - This is a clean, well-made, enjoyable brown ale with an American rather than English tilt. Not exceptional, but good.
