Not a huge fan of fruity beers but this one does an excellent job of capturing the watermelon taste with a smooth feel. I only had a sample size but I'd be willing to enjoy a pint or two.

Slightly hazy orange.. Nice foamy white head shows good retention and splotchy lacing. Everything about this beer screams Jolly Rancher.... Can't be natural, but still is very tasty... Wheat is more than present and provides a little sweetness that allows the melon flavor to bloom... It was like 90 degrees today, this was pretty nice in the heat.

Tastes a lot like a watermelon Jolly Rancher which can be either good or bad depending on the day I suppose. I was drinking it on a hot day whihc made it fairly refreshing.

I have been looking everywhere for this beer. I had this at a bar after a long bike ride, and it was super refreshing! I hate fruity citrus beer but the watermelon had a light undertone and still had a nice light beer taste, not sweet at all. I feel like they balanced this beer very well, but would have loved to taste more hops. I'm super sad I can't find this anywhere else! I'm a huge fan of Lost Coast, this beer only made me fall in love more!

On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.

Pours a murky yellow with a foamy off-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, and watermelon candy aromas. Taste is much the same with watermelon candy and the flavored pink antibiotic given to children on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty poor beer with artificial fruit qualities all around.

Trying this beer on tap just for the novelty factor.

-Artificial Flavours (Watermelon)
-Bubble gum Bitter Notes
-Bitter Aftertaste
-No Beer Taste

Overall poor pairing of watermelon artificial flavour with beer bitterness.

Would not recommend it. Avoid.

On-tap at the brewery in Eureka, CA.

Pours a cloudy golden colour, perhaps with a hint of pink to it. Head is fine and white. Lace is excellent and intricate. Body is solid. All of these are good things.

Nose is piquant with a tart, direct watermelon aroma. Jolly rancher, with some lilting acid. It turns sweet and slightly cloying after a while. It's powerful, though, and pretty unique.

The taste, however, is pretty much just sweet—it craves some lacto or something to cut through it. In fact, the sweetness turns the watermelon character almost into a sugary strawberry, perhaps with a hint of fake cherry. Light dryness on the back, and a hint of tight but mild astringency. Feel is good, light and fluffy.

Weird beer, but it's interesting and unique enough for what it is. I'm pleased to say that I enjoy it: I think it's the most successful of Lost Coast's fruit beers that I've tried. Maybe that's just because it's unique.

A: no head really and scant lacing on a hazy golden with crimson hues body.

S: straight up watermelon.

T: watered down watermelon. Maybe some malts and wheat but I am probably making that up.

M: light body and moderate to high carbonation.

Overall: alcoholic watermelon juice. Period.
