On tap at GABS Festival in Melbourne, May 2014.

Pours a dark brown colour, slight bit of cloud where light is visible, nice tan head, foamy with some sticky lace left behind. Looks good.

Smells fruity. Dark cherry with a hint of grape character to it, possibly just that artificial grape ester kind of note though. Bit of pineapple as well; barnyard and a decent whack of oak. Pleasant.

Taste is a bit lighter. Tastes quite funky and wild with some notes of chardonnay and cider upfront. Gets more tart and almost vinegary later with a touch of oak as well. Not a great deal of roast; gets dominated by whatever souring agent they've inoculated this with. Decent, but not a huge amount of character considering its prestige and what the description promised.

Body is a bit thin, too, and quite tingly from the carbonation and possibly drying from the yeast as well.

I think I might reasonably have expected a bit more from this. Not bad, but it had so much potential to knock me out and it just doesn't quite make it.
