Bottle: solid 500mL brown bottle, stylish craft beer label. I like it.
Appearance: hazy dark brown with a two-finger off-white head that drops to a cap almost immediately. Looks like a German Diesel, or like warm cola. Not sure about this one.
Aroma: boy, that's interesting. Does smell like wheat, but certainly not as I've known them, Jim. Smells of burnt wheat, and more importantly, burnt wheat husks. Some caramel - and chocolate? - backs up.
Taste: again interesting - follows the nose. A very thick profile with those roast / burnt wheat flavours. I'm not getting any of the usual banana and cloves that one would normally associate with German wheat beers.
Aftertaste: a slight bitterness comes through after a time, with that burnt wheat still at the back of the mouth.
Mouth feel: a really nice mouth feel - medium in body with a limited but powerful carbonation. This beer wouldn't require much more carbonation to get its point across, that's for sure.
Overall: normally I will back Holgate Brewery all the way - the vast majority of their brews are just about second-to-none. But Brick Kiln Wheat simply doesn't stand up. If I had made this as a home brew, I would be pretty pleased with myself. The reason I am giving this one an overall score of 2.5, however: an unsophisticated wheat that tastes of burnt husks for the simply staggering price of AU$120 (2013) a case of 12 x 500mL (and that is from the brewery, guys!), this one really doesn't get my vote.

Pours dark brown with a small head.
Banana and doughy wheat are prominent in the aroma along with some caramel and brown sugar. Textbook dunkelweizen aroma really.
Flavours instead focus on nutty malt with some banana showing later, along with some wheat.
Carbonation is a little too high.

A - Fairly hazy dark golden with 3cm white head that slowly falls away.
S - Clove spice, banana, wheaty, touch of diacetyl.
T - Sweetish matled wheat, banana and clove like the aroma. Some vauge boiled vegetable notes.
M - Medium bodied, fairly high carbonation.
D - Some slight flaws but still an OK beer worth trying.
