Canned 3/01, thanks to rudzud
Light head, crystal clear tan amber color

Nose big sweet malt, candy malt, citrus candy marmalade, apricot notes, little rind, orange honey, faint pine and earthy spruce, underwhelming

Taste sweet candy malt, little honey, caramel, little pine and spruce, generic citrus pith, candy sweet marmalade, fair bitterness, little candy hint of alcohol late, drier not sticky

Mouth is med bod, decent fluffy carb, alcohol hidden well, a bit syrupy like but dry not sticky finish

Overall not bad, I guess that's what they are going for other than light nose, not quite my style but ok, alcohol hidden well

Received as an extra in a trade and shared with JLindros. Canning date of 3/1/18.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great a nice crystal clear honey hue with a thin head that fades to leave light wisps.

S - Aromas of malt sweetness, floral honey notes, caramel, little bit of pine. Rather malty.

T - Taste is similar to the nose big malty sweetness, caramel, big pine, finish is generic grapefruit bitterness. Alcohol hidden super nicely.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, crisp, not really flemmy.

O - Overall this was a decent enough double ipa. Clearly going for an old west coast style dipa judging by the malts here.

On tap at Austin Beerworks in Austin, TX.

This one pours a fairly clear golden amber, with a small white head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells pretty malty, with resinous pine, toasted bread, and orange.

I expected a bit more out of this. I mostly just get sweet and bready malt, and astringent bitterness. There’s a little bit of citrus but not much. It just feels kind of brutish.

This is crisp with a heavy bitterness that lingers on the palate. There’s a normal new level of carbonation.

I definitely wish I could have gotten more out of this.

The appearance was a hazy golden color with a one finger white foamy head that leaves some light clingy lacing. There is some light carbonation softly moving up. The smell was sweetened pine with a nice allocated caramel lightly touching the nose together. The taste was sweet and bitter bursting through fairly harsh on the taste buds. There is a good bittersweet pine aftertaste leading into a dry finish. On the palate, it sits about a light to medium on the body. This one’s got the right amount of carbonation for a DIPA to have an ample amount of bitterness to lead to a great harshness on the tongue and mouth, ABV - what ABV, I barely notice it, what great drinkability. Overall, this is a very well done DIPA well worthy of having again and I would love to have this again especially next time right outa the can as it would make a great beer to sip on while fishing on the pier.
