A: Dark brown almost pitch black with a small tan head.
S: Ahhh this smells good. Maple syrup, raisins, chocolate, burnt bread.
T: Similar: Maple syrup, oatmeal, raisins, chocolate, rye bread (as stated by another reviewer), burnt toast, and big marshmallow. I love the marshmallow note that this beer has.
M: Heavy side of medium. Kinda velvety. Nice feel.
O: Awesome awesome beer. The price tag makes it even better. It has that perfect balance of oats, syrup, malt, and chocolate. I am satisfied!

Poured from a growler into a snifter.
A: Very dark brown. Pours a slight, brown-white head. Dissipates quickly leaving merely a ring around the surface. Spotty but persistent lacing.
S: Very light nose consisting of roasted espresso, and charred malt.
T: Rye bread, and a little licorice with a little peat.
M: Lighter in the body than expected. Very grainy. Pungent dry finish. Kind of an earthi-ness lingers on the palate.
D: Sip and enjoy.
Atmosphere is okay. Slight head, and spotty lacing. Nose is very light but characteristic of the style. Pungent earthy flavor with a grainy texture with a little bit of bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty good quaff.
