Hop forward with notes of citrus and wheat. Medium body and carbonation. I like this more than many IPAs in the 6%-8% range, but it’s a little lighter at 5.9%, which is a bonus! Versatile and good with everything from Indian food to seafood to wings.

This DelMarVa (+ DC) adventure of mine has morphed into my latest CANQuest (tm) focus! I really had no idea that MaryCANd, especially, was putting out so much beer. 8=O It seems as though every time I feel like I a close, some more beers from that area Pop! up from out of hiding to surprise me. Further, I am back to work so I CANnot keep up the pace that I set during the Christmas/Winter Break. 8=( On top of all of that, even New Beer Sunday is off-limits due to prior CANmitments. 8=(
From the CAN: "White India Pale Ale".
This one surfaced from the depths of my cool or cold (depending on time of year) cellar, having been purchased at the brewery during a visit to my aunt & uncle's in DC at one point. I was CANcerned that flocculation may have taken place during this time, so I did some in-CAN agitation, prior to Crack!ing open the vent, to ensure that everything was back in suspension. The Crack! went off without a hitch so I decided to press my luck & go with an aggro Glug. This resulted in the formation of just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with very good retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy solid Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose had a lemon-peppery quality & first, I sneezed, then my mouth beCAN to water. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but close. The taste was VERY spicy & peppery with the adjuncts having held up really well & overtaking both the hops & malts. I would be interested to see the malt & hop bill on this one, but the spices really saved & carried the day in this case. Unlike Cascadian/Black IPAs the spices enhanced, rather than overwhelmed, the hops in this one since there was also a pleasant bitterness to it. I CAN't tell what those hops were, but I CAN also tell you that it was not all just adjunct spices. This was a very pleasant drink throughout with an almost tea-like mellowness to it. It had clearly held up very well. Finish was dry, as any beer using spices as an adjunct should be expected to be, but not gaspingly dry. It was a nice, mellow beer as the night CANtinues to evolve & devolve. YMMV.

On tap at 3 Stars in D.C.
Pours a clear amber with thick, soft foam.
Smell is grassy and spicy with notes of peaches and citrus.
Taste is fruity and yeasty with some pepper burn and notes of peaches, grapefruit and honeydew. Nice, citrus peel bitterness and dry finish.
Mouthfeel is medium, slightly overcarbonated.
Overall, a nice, balanced Belgian IPA.

Impressive appearance with a huge, large bubbled head with good staying power and leaving sticky lace as it slowly retreats. Nose is citrus fused hops and bread notes. Color is a cloudy golden.
Kind of an interesting flavor, with medium bitterness throughout and Belgian yeast and black pepper on the outskirts. The texture is somewhat compromised by the excess of carbonation and watery finish.

Hazy orange with a nice white head, good retention and lace.
Lots of tangerine and apricot in the nose!
Very citrusy, orange and tangerine, a bit of mango, slight spice. Some bready malt.
Light and refreshing, but satisfying. Carbonation is right where it should be.
This is a damn good summer beer.
